The long-awaited premiere of a powerful new documentary produced by the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, KY takes place at 9:00 PM EDST on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 on Kentucky Educational Television.

POWERFUL: Bill Monroe Remembered tells the poignant, riveting story of Ohio County, KY native Bill Monroe, Father of Bluegrass Music, through the remembrances of dozens of his "Blue Grass Boys," the name given to the 161 sidemen and women who, at various times, were members of his band from the 1940s until his death in 1996.

Butler County DAR On The Move

Butler County Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held a Genealogy Workshop, at no charge, on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Butler County Public Library.  Linda Deweese, BCNSDAR Registrar worked with Myra Evans, KSDAR Registrar, in arranging the half day program. The workshop was open to public and DAR members. Participants, loaded down with family genealogy, lap tops and questions, began to arrive before 8:45 to register. Members of DAR Chapters, Butler County, Salt River, Grayson Springs, Samuel Davies and Green River society attended.

BCHS Class of 2014 Walks the Line at Graduation

The Butler County High School Class of 2014 completed their final task on Friday night as they walked the graduation line.  The Class had 14 valedictorians: Tyler Johnson, Trevor Jenkins, Clark Parker, Samantha Camus, Allie Romans, Katie Graham, Amy Rogers, Ashlenn White, Kayley Jarboe, Chanda Hampton, Katona Dockery, Ralen Johnson, Maddie Moore, and Caitlyn Ford.

Single Vehicle Accident On Natcher Parkway

A single vehicle accident shutdown northbound Natcher Parkway near the 24 mile marker just east of Morgantown, in Butler County on Monday afternoon.  Cynthia J. Brumitt, 54 of Columbia, Kentucky, was traveling northbound when she apparently loss control of her vehicle according to witnesses. Brumitt then hit the guardrail over corrected traveling back across the road hitting the opposite guardrail and over turned. She was airlifted from the scene by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center, in Tennessee.

Campbellsville University honors teachers for excellence in teaching

Campbellsville University honored 166 teachers from 58 school districts throughout Kentucky by receiving the Campbellsville University Excellence in Teaching Award Saturday, May 10 at the Ransdell Chapel on the CU campus.
    Bill Goodman, host of “Kentucky Tonight” and “One to One” on Kentucky Educational Television, spoke to the approximate 400 teachers and their guests by discussing “What is a teacher for?”

Fiscal Court: Landfill, Boat Ramps, and Truck Lease Discussed

The Butler County Fiscal Court closed the month of May with a special session on May 29th at the Butler County Courthouse. All members were present, along with a small group of interested visitors.

The Magistrates voted 5-0 to accept the yearly agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for county road aid. The squires also voted unanimously to approve $100-mile litter abatement payments to; MCC Mission Team-$654' MCC Youth Group-$708, Methodist Men Church-$643, and Methodist Church-$601.

Fatal Accident on Brownsville Road

A Butler County woman died Thursday in a two-vehicle accident on Brownsville Road (Hwy 70).

Killed in the wreck was Janice Embry, 57, of Morgantown.
