Demand for Electric Power

UPDATE: Resume Normal Use of Electricity

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) announced that customers may resume normal use of electricity.
Yesterday, Warren RECC members were asked to voluntarily reduce electric usage in an effort to keep the system stable to reduce the possibility of outages. At 6:42 a.m. Thursday, Warren RECC reached its peak, and demand began falling.

Warren RECC and TVA appreciate the efforts of our members in helping to reduce electric load during this time.

Dockery Develops Coursework For Bluegrass Music Degree

Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky is developing a Bachelor's of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Bluegrass Music. Brescia is partnering with Owensboro Community and Technological College in a two by two degree program. Student's can go two years to OTC an receive a associates degree in Bluegrass Music and then can transfer all their credits to Brescia and do two more years of course work and receive a BFA in Bluegrass Music.

McKinney announced as new assistant principal at M.E.S.

Alicia McKinney, new assistant principal at Morgantown Elementary.

New Morgantown Elementary (M.E.S.) Principal Chad Flener announced on Friday evening, January 2, that Alicia McKinney will become the school's new assistant principal. Flener told Beech Tree News that he was "pleased and excited" to announce the hiring of McKinney, who is actually replacing Flener after he was named principal in December.

McKinney has been a teacher at M.E.S. since 2005.

New year brings swearing in of city, county elected officials

City, county officials take their respective Constitutional oath of office to start the new year and their new term of office.

On Tuesday, December 30, Chief Circuit Judge Ronnie C. Dortch presided over the swearing in ceremony of the elected officials of Butler County. 
“I have been on the bench since 1986 and then I was swearing in Jim Bat, Walter Chyle, and J.V. McKinney,” said Judge Dortch.
