Supt. Howard meets with KY Education Commissioner
Butler County Schools' Superintendent Scott Howard spent Monday evening and Tuesday morning in Frankfort, Kentucky. Mr. Howard, along with Mr. Scott Lewis (Superintendent of Ohio County Schools) and Mr. Owens Saylor (Superintendent of Daviess County Schools), represent the Green River Educational Cooperative as sitting members of the Kentucky Commissioner of Education’s Superintendent Advisory Council (SAC). There are over twenty superintendents from across the state who make up this council. The council received an update on the proposal of the Accountability Steering Committee and Every Student Succeeds Act implementation. The council provided feedback to the Commissioner in regards to the new system.

The council also received a legislative update from the Office of Legal, Legislative, and Communication Services. Mr. Kevin Brown and Mrs. Tracy Herman provided the update regarding bills that have already been filed as well as potential legislation that could surface during the upcoming short session of the General Assembly.
Superintendent Howard stated, “It is always a pleasure to travel to Frankfort and meet with the Commissioner and all of his staff. This provides a wonderful opportunity for me to speak with the Commissioner and gain valuable information that I can bring back to our district.” Mr. Howard also shared that he was very appreciative of the Green River Educational Cooperative for the opportunity to be on the SAC.
