Wanted Man Arrested After 8 Hour Stand-off in Edmonson County

WKU Civil War forum stirs discussion, debate on monuments

The Civil War monument is one of only two in Kentucky to honor both sides - Union and Confederacy - during the Civil War.  It was dedicated in 1907.

When protests in Charlottesville, Va., erupted in violence last August, Western Kentucky University history professor Glenn LaFantasie felt he was experiencing something new.

 

“It felt to this historian at least as though the past was truly catching up with the present,” he said, speaking at a Civil War forum Monday at WKU’s Jody Richards Hall auditorium.

Rite Aid will become Walgreens

A long-time Morgantown business will be getting a new look and new name as Rite Aid will transition to Walgreens.  Rite Aid customers received a letter last week informing them that Walgreen is taking over the local store following a purchase of some of the Rite Aid stores. The store transition is expected to take up to three years.  The sign at the pharmacy has already changed, however, the staff will remain the same.

Colten Glass wins BCMS Spelling Bee

School officials say proposed budget will hurt local district
