Colten Glass wins BCMS Spelling Bee
The competition was intense but when it was all said and done, 8th grader Colten Glass took the top prize in the Butler County Middle School. The competition was held Thursday, February 1.

Several other students took part in the contest after winning classroom Spelling Bee rounds. They are:

Kyllie Doughty, 6th grade Language Arts teacher at BCMS, coordinated the event. Joining her as judges were 8th grade Language Arts & Writing teachers Holly Elmore and Amy Smith-Thomas. Principal Tim Freeman served as emcee for the event.
“Congratulations to all the participants and good luck to Colten as he represents BCMS at the District level,” said Doughty.
“Mrs. Doughty and the other teachers did a great job with this event and we’re proud of all the students who part in the Bee,” said Principal Freeman. “We know Colten will represent BCMS well in the county-wide Spelling Bee next week.”
The county-wide Spelling Bee is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, at 5 p.m. at the Butler County Education Complex. The make-up date is February 8.
