Though cities in Butler County are prohibited by state law from imposing regulatory licensing fees on the sale of alcohol, the three movements to go wet in Morgantown, Woodbury and Rochester are not expected to slow down.

    Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps said he doesn't think the fact that no city in the county can levy regulatory licensing fees on alcohol sales will play much of a role in the upcoming ballot. This fact was well-known leading up to January's countywide wet/dry vote in which alcohol sales were rejected, he said.

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 47 individuals. Charges include the following: sexual abuse, drugs, theft, burglary, and trafficking in meth.  Arraignments are September 7, 2016.

Morgantown, KY (August 17, 2016) The Kentucky State Police Post 3 has arrested a Bowling Green man in connection to a fire that occurred in Butler County on August 2, 2016.

Thirty-five year old Bobby A. Simmons of Bowling Green was arrested and charged with Arson 2nd Degree and was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail where he is awaiting transport to the Butler County Jail.

Morgantown City Council held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, August 11, at the Eva J. Hawes Agriculture and Exposition Center.  Council member Sharon Johnson was absent.
Due to a decrease of $118,000  in property assessments and tangibles within the city limits, the property tax rate for 2016 increased from .116% to .118%.  The council is required by law to generate the same amount of money from taxes each year.  In 2015 the council increased the tax rate by 4%. The motor vehicle tax rate for 2016 stayed the same.

Butler County Fiscal Court held a called meeting on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.  All members were present.  There were four items on the agenda, all being passed unanimously in the brief meeting that lasted less than thirty minutes.

A full renovation was performed on the facility, modernizing it into a beautiful contemporary office space.

The owner of the car Mike Manship from Bowling Green received the Gold award with a score of 982.5 out of a possible 1,000 points.

A 21-year-old Bowling Green man admitted stabbing his father Sunday while they were attending a 9:30 a.m. service at Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green, according to police.

Ethan Buckley is charged with first-degree assault-domestic violence and is being held in the Warren County Regional Jail in Bowling Green. At an arraignment Monday morning, Ethan Buckley said he could not afford an attorney and was appointed a public defender. Warren District Judge Sam Potter set Ethan Buckley's bond at $500,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Friday.
