Shoplifting call leads to drug arrests

What began as a shoplifting call on Saturday morning ultimately resulted in the arrest of two individuals on several drug-related offenses.  On February 2, at approximately 8:07 a.m., officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to Advance Auto Parts in reference to shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Amanda N. Sorrels, age 33, of Morgantown, KY and Gary E. Hatcher, age 62, of Morgantown KY.  

 

Sorrels was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine); Possession of a Controlled Substance-1st Degree, 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified); Drug Paraphernalia-Buy/Possess and Prescription of a Controlled Substance (not in a proper container)-1st Offense. Hatcher was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine), Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle Prohibited.  

 

Sorrels and Hatcher were lodged in the Butler County Jail.
