Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

As the seasons change, each brings a few items for my to-do list. The fall season has reminded me of three things I want to do regarding my health, my surroundings, and my leisure time.

"Say what?"
"What does your neck say about you?"  This from a TV beauty ad.  Another is "Up until now t he beauty industry has done nothing for women's necks."  Well maybe an ugly neck is hard to do anything with.
Recently a basketball sportscaster said, "He(that player) has the ability to make ton of dirty baskets."  Just what is a dirty basket?  Reckon that net needs washing?

Cheryl Hughes: How Does She Do It?

My Career As A Woman

It’s Sunday morning, and I feel like I’ve been beat with a baseball bat.  I hurt in places I’ve never hurt before—my eyelashes are sore—and I’m wondering how my friend Sandra, who is eleven years older than I am, does it.  The “it” of which I speak is the setting up and breaking down at craft shows, weekend after weekend.

Jarrod Jacobs: “What Prevents Me From Being Baptized?”

The above question was asked by an Ethiopian many years ago. As Philip preached Christ to him (Acts 8:35), they came to a certain water and “the eunuch said, See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized? … and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him” (Acts 8:36-39). The question the eunuch asked is still valid. What is preventing you from being baptized?

History of Shrimp- I love shrimp. That part in Forrest Gump where Forrest and Bubba started a shrimping business was awesome.  I did not get the idea for this piece by watching Forest Gump, however.  I do love that movie, but that’s beside the point.

Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

The recent cooler weather reminded me of previous fall events. Many of those memories are associated with food. As you may know, I collect recipes and enjoy cooking. Some recipes that I associate with fall are listed below. All of these recipes were given to me by family and friends.

‘Does and Ats’ -I read somewhere that women are primarily responsible for leadership in this country. That’s probably close to the truth. Actress Sadie Itahn said one time she didn’t like President Ford. “Why?” she was asked. “I didn’t like his buns”, she said.
Ronald Reagan was handsome, he was elected president. Bill Clinton was thought to be handsome- women liked him. He liked them too.
I’m careful anymore to whom I lend books; I still do on occasion.

Cheryl Hughes: Worry or the Lack Thereof

My Career As A Woman

I came across a small book at a consignment store recently entitled, “Don’t Worry, Make Money.”  I was drawn to the “Don’t Worry” part of the title, and if I happened to make money in the process, I figured that would be alright too.  If I had realized the author of this book, Richard Carlson, was the same man who wrote, “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff,” I wouldn’t have given the book a second glance.  (The whole don’t-sweat-the-small-stuff concept has always seemed ludicrous to me, because it’s the details that make or break almost everything.)  I didn’t know he was the same author, so I boug

Jarrod Jacobs: What Does The Empty Tomb Mean To Us?

Almost 2000 years ago, Jesus was crucified between two thieves. When He died, His body was laid in a new tomb belonging to Joseph of Arimathea (Mk. 15:43-47), there to await His resurrection on the third day. The account of the women and the apostles finding Jesus’ tomb empty is found in Matthew 28:1-10, Mark 16:1-11, Luke 24:1-12, and John 20:1-10.

The empty tomb means something to Christians. It is important and has great value to all those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. What does the empty tomb mean?

Thursday night, September 12, a seven year journey comes to an end when the USA show Burn Notice airs its series finale.  Since the series premiere June 28, 2007, the one hour show has garnered a bit of a cult following, especially on Twitter.  #BurnNoticeAddiction(@SunnyODay) and @BurnNotice_USA are the two biggest accounts for the show.  In fact, @SunnyODay and I follow each other.  I once won a Burn Notice Twitter contest.  That’s another story.
