Don Locke: Lookin Thru Bifocals

When a writer puts his/her thoughts in print for all to see (those who want to look), he doesn't know
beforehand what he's going to produce-his works may take a different course for which they were intended.

Cheryl Hughes: They Call Me Sweet Tater

We raised a bumper crop of sweet potatoes this year.  We set out a row that was almost 120 feet long.  Garey babied the plants around all summer.  Sabria and I helped set them out and stretch netting over them to keep the deer and rabbits out, but Garey did the rest.  He hoed them and pulled dirt up the berm around the plants.  He kept them fertilized and would even raise the net to pull weeds that had reared their ugly heads in the center of the row.  He also put rat poison on the parameters in order to take care of the voles.

Debby Burden Lanham: View From My Lens

My husband often calls me "hawk eye" because he says I can spot one a mile away. They just amaze me. They sit patiently and await their prey and they have such a beautiful wing span that is so  peaceful to me. Just reminds me that if you want something, you have to be patient but also if you want something bad enough, you spread your wings and you go after it!
Please take the time to enjoy your free art show of life that God blesses you with every single day! No matter which direction you look, there's a blessing waiting.

Jarrod Jacobs: How Can I Resist Temptation?

This question was asked of me recently. I thought it was a very good question and got to the heart of the matter when it comes to sin and unrighteousness. Temptation in and of itself is not sin, but it will lead us into sin and finally death if we do not resist it (Jas. 1:14-15). Thus, it behooves us to ask how can we resist the temptations we face?

PHIL'S PHILOSOPHY By: D.P Kinkade Contributions by: Taylor & Drake Kinkade

BOLD COWARDICE:  I would like to start off with a quote by someone else which goes as follows, “it should be remembered that brutality is not manliness but cowardice!” I could not find out who originally said that quote and a quick search provided no definitive answers, so, though I would like to give credit to the author of this incredibly wise observation, I am unable. Those few words do hold a vast amount of truth in them though, wouldn't you agree?

Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

A couple of weeks ago, I attended my first destination wedding. The destination happened to be a beach location, and we were blessed with pleasant summer-like weather. Although we traveled a day to get there and a day back, it was not only a beautiful wedding but also a memorable mini-vacation.

Don Locke: Lookin Thru Bifocals

Most, if not all, of the old grade-B movie cowboys have ridden off into the sunset.
Grade B movies were Saturday in most small towns-short on plot and long on horse hair and gun powder; on the average most were ground-out in three or so days. The main grinder-studios were Monogram and Republic.
Each picture featured a hero, a hero’s side kick, and a bevy of low-down, side-winder crooks, who were constantly trying do-in the hero. In the grade-B cowboy pictures you had singers or shooters-or singers and shooters both.

Cheryl Hughes: Drip

As I write this, my commode is sitting in my bathtub, and my bathroom floor has ceased to exist—unless you count the bits of insulation still clinging to the exposed floor joists.  I mentioned last week that we are replacing the flooring in the kitchen, dining room, hall and bathroom.  The renovation has now expanded to the replacing of the entire bathroom floor, subfloor and all.

Debby Burden Lanham: View From My Lens

The sunset... not sure which is my favorite, the rising or the setting of the sun. They both touch my heart with each one that takes place. One reason is when they are as beautiful as this one, it's just a beautiful display of God's artistry and it doesn't cost a thing to absorb it. Every chance I get, I try to capture the beginning and ending of the day, I don't accomplish this everyday needless to say, but when I do, it just humbles me. Take the time to enjoy what God blesses you with everyday! Just look toward the sunset and breathe and thank God for the blessing!

Jarrod Jacobs: Learning From Jonah

The book of Jonah provides us with a fascinating study. Last week, we studied the first two chapters in the book of Jonah. We conclude our study here. We ended last week’s article with Jonah’s understanding that “salvation is of the Lord” and then being spit out on the land (2:9-10). Let us continue in our study of the book of Jonah.
