COMPARTMENTALIZE-The word I used as a header for this particular column is thrown around a lot in some circles of our society today. For those readers whom may not be all that familiar with it or who don't know how it operates in everyday life, I'll start with a typical example and then a short definition. First the example- “it's nothing personal, it's just business!” Now the definition; to compartmentalize means that -you are able to divide things into different sections or “compartments” and do not have them overlap or integrate, one with another.

Debby Burden Lanhman: View from my lens...

Oh the beauty of the red barns! This was is just stunning. Hide just a tad in the trees, but yet visible enough to catch the eye. I love the little door being open on the left hand side.

Again, so much beauty all around us,just take a drive, a walk, a hike…..soak it all in. God put this beauty all around us for our enjoyment….ENJOY!!!

Fall festivals, county field days and football can only mean one thing: Fall is here! Autumn is the most elegant way to describe a season, I’ve read.  I never thought about it but I suppose that’s correct.  There really isn’t another name for Summer, Winter, Spring.

Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

Since September began, I’ve been thinking about the two items on my summer project list that I didn’t get around to completing. I would like to have those things done (paint a door and sort through the contents of some shelves in the garage), but I don’t know whether I will get to them in the immediate future. Time and desire are definitely factors.

Cheryl Hughes: The Misadventures of Todd the Cat

I love cats.  I think, because they are their own people.  You can’t predict them, and they rarely do what you want.  Someone once said, “Dogs come when you call them.  Cats take a number and get back to you.”  The Jones family knows this all too well.
When Olivia Jones was four years old, someone gave her a cat.  She named him Todd.  Olivia loved Todd, and he was always there to greet her every morning when she left for the sitter and each afternoon when she returned home.

Jarrod Jacobs: “What Will You Leave Behind?”

Every time this newspaper is published, we read of those who have died (Ecc. 9:5; Jas. 4:14). Some die in their old age, and some in their youth. Some die from accidents, murders, disease, suicide, and many other things. Truly, our life on this earth is brief at its longest (Ps. 90:10)! James said our life is, “a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” (Jas. 4:14).

PHIL'S PHILOSOPHY By: D.P Kinkade Contributions by: Taylor & Drake Kinkade

PUT A PENCIL IN MY HAND-Not long ago, at the place where my family goes to worship and examine what a life of faith looks like, we took some time to explore the psalms. At the conclusion of the teaching we all were invited to take a few moments and write our own psalm. Now, we had discovered that a lot of the psalms were written as a sort of crying out of the soul when God seems distant, I can readily identify with that emotion, so in a few moments, I had my own personal psalm written.

Debby Burden Lanham: View From My Lens

Early mornings are best! As I stopped to take this photo, the morning was quiet, so very peaceful; the best time of the day in my opinion. Up early before the shuffle of the world begins. It’s sights like this that are so often unappreciated. I try to soak the whole world of beautiful nature in every chance I can. We are surrounded every single day by so much beauty!!

Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

Labor Day is once again upon us.  In my attempt to search the origins of Labor Day, I actually came up with a few different stories.  https://www.dol.gov/general/laborday/history says that the first Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882.  Interesting that we now celebrate on a Monday when the inaugural Labor Day was on a Tuesday.  In 1884, the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, as was originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the exampl
