Jarrod Jacobs: "Not Your's, But God's"

This phrase comes from a passage found in II Chronicles 20:5-19. Jehoshaphat had been praying to God concerning a certain battle. God answered him and said, “Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (v. 15) Can you think of other things that are not ours, but God’s?

PHIL'S PHILOSOPHY By: D.P Kinkade Contributions by: Taylor & Drake Kinkade

WHAT DO YOU THINK- Recently I read something that, oh I don't know, inspirational is not really the right word, which was what I originally was going to use and neither was it an epiphany, which I also considered using because it was not a sudden revelation, it was more like those times when you know deep in your bones that something is true but just is not being said.

Corruption Junction, what’s your function? Schoolhouse Rock reference aside, college sports has quite the sticky issue on their hands.  Don’t be fooled into thinking the Louisville Cardinals are the only university playing fast and loose with the rules.  And yes, I realize the irony of the words “fast” and “loose” in a prostitution issue.

Last week, my daughters and I drove to Lexington for an awards dinner. My late husband and his nephew, Ryan Craig, were both receiving an Al Smith Award. These awards recognize public service through community journalism by current or former Kentuckians. My late husband Larry Craig, former owner of the Green River Republican of Morgantown, and Ryan Craig, owner of the Todd County Standard of Elkton, were honored for their work in community journalism.

From where do wild, zany, tales and stories originate?  More surprisingly, most are not witnessed by people telling them— They’ve heard them second hand; yet they relish repeating them.  Maybe they get somewhat of an ego rush from this.  Who knows?

Cheryl Hughes: I’m Gonna Tell

One night last week, when my granddaughter, Sabria, was staying over, she and her Papa, Garey, continued their earlier aggravating-each-other session over into my bed time.  I had been lying on the couch waiting for the activity to subside before I ventured that way.  The volume seemed to be increasing, especially on Sabria’s side of things, so I spread the couch throw over my legs, fluffed my pillow and settled in.  It wasn’t long before I heard Sabria walking through the kitchen and heading my way.

Jarrod Jacobs: Do Not Be Deceived

God warned man many times in the Bible not to be deceived by certain things. For instance, He warned the Israelites not to let their heart be deceived by serving false gods (Deut. 11:16). Jesus told people in His day, “take heed that ye be not deceived” (Lk. 21:8). Let us consider some other occasions when men were told not to be deceived.
