PHIL'S PHILOSOPHY By: D.P Kinkade Contributions by: Taylor & Drake Kinkade

ABOMINATION- I looked up abomination in an on-line dictionary and it said it was something that brought on extreme feelings of disgust or hate; loathsomeness. My older hand held dictionary had a definition though, that I feel comes closer to what the word originally meant and its proper usage; it was- out of natural order; no right to exist in the world. The word- Abomination, is thrown around a lot in some circles, usually by people seeking to distance themselves from others, different from themselves. Do you want to know some things, which are truly abominations?

Senator C.B. Embry's Legislative Update

After a productive 58th day of the 2018 Legislative Session that saw the passing of several significant bills to benefit the Commonwealth, we have now entered a 10-day “veto recess” where Governor Matt Bevin will have the opportunity to sign and veto bills passed by the Kentucky General Assembly. The most significant measures to pass on Monday, April 2, were a budget and a revenue bill that will dictate how our state collects and appropriates funding for the next two years.

Reboots are all the rage these days.  Some work, some don’t.  Last week, Roseanne returned.  Same cast, minus David played by Johnny Galecki.  Obviously he’s on the glactic hit Big Bang Theory.  Roseanne and Dan(that’s right, he didn’t really die) are the grandparents now.

“Death, taxes and childbirth! There's never any convenient time for any of them,” according to Margaret Mitchell, Gone with the Wind. Although the official deadline for filing income tax returns is usually April 15, this year it’s April 17. Because I’m one of those people who dreads the income-tax-filing process, I usually file fairly early – to avoid the dread.

A day or two back I was “channel flipping” and saw this young woman singing. I always; flip with the sound off but I could tell it was bad; she grimmised like maybe some gosh awful pain was bugging her.

About five years ago, I went with a friend to Dayton, Ohio.  It was early in the spring, and I noticed countless white-blossomed trees on the surrounding hillsides in the forests growing there.  I remember being puzzled, because the only thing I knew that was in full bloom at that time was the Bradford Pear, an ornamental tree that I thought had to be purposely set out.  I have two in my front yard and one at my business.  They were all set out.

Senator C.B. Embry's Legislative Update

The 2018 Session is quickly winding down as Thursday, March 29, marked Day 57 of the 60-day budget session. Budget negotiations are continuing and the Senate gaveled in for two days to pass a number of bills including some aimed at helping our first responders and their families. Although the amount of days left is shortening, the days in the Capitol are getting longer as we prepare to pass the Commonwealth’s two-year budget.
