No matter what time of year, health topics seem to make the news. We certainly want healthy bodies. I recently read about three health-related issues: safe minimum cooking temperatures, healthy sinuses, and the eye drop legal dispute. Each of these topics caught my attention because of the familiarity of the problem.

One day last spring, Logan came into the office and asked, “Is there some reason your car is still running?”  I blinked and thought, “Yes,” I said, “I’m old people and I forgot to turn it off before I got out.”

Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

In 2001, Jack White wrote a song called “Fell In Love With a Girl” with his band the White Stripes.  The song was released in 2002, appearing on the album White Blood Cells.  Three years later, Joss Stone covered the song, renaming it “Fell In Love With a Boy”, for her Mind, Body and Soul album.  I prefer Jack’s version but both are good.

Cheryl Hughes: Near or Far

 There’s a verse in Ecclesiastes that reads, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”  I heard someone say once that what your hand finds to do is generally in the area of your natural surroundings, something or someplace you’re born into.  This verse reminds me of my dad and the story he told us about the first axe he ever got.  His grandmother ordered it for him when he was in his early teens.
