Cheryl Hughes: Courage

In our early marriage, I would get so mad at my husband, Garey, for being happy about everything.  The only things that really got under his skin were government regulations (we owned a coal mine at the time) and a bird dog that wouldn’t point.  His positive attitude was very annoying to someone like me, who saw disaster lurking around every corner.  I would think, “He just doesn’t see what’s going on around him.

Jarrod Jacobs: “What Name Would God Give You?”

An interesting event in the history of the Lord’s church is recorded in Acts 4:36-37. When certain ones gave money and possessions to supply the needs of the poor brethren in Jerusalem, one man, Joses, stood out. “Remember The Alamo!” “Remember The Maine!” “Remember Pearl Harbor!” “Remember 9/11!” These are just a few of the rallying cries that have been heard in our country through the years. These cries showed people that the war waged was for a cause greater than self.

Having celebrated a birthday recently has me thinking about aging. One of my friends has said, “People talk about the golden years, but they’re not golden – they’re rusty.” People differ in the way they view aging.
