Jarrod Jacobs: Shoplifting a Bible

It came to my attention a while back that the #1 shoplifted book in America is the Bible! Just think of the irony of that fact!

I’ve shared with you movies I’ve been watching in quarantine.  I’ve shared apps and books that I’ve downloaded and am reading.  Today, I’ll talk about something else that is very beneficial in times like these: music.  Music is a huge part of life-especially mine.  We wake up to it(usually), we workout to it, we listen for leisure and

Since the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is keeping us at home, my daughters and I have been more interested in-home cooking. We often enjoy the one-pan-meal kind of dish. The recipes below come from friends and family.

Senator C. B. Embry Jr. Legislative Update

The Kentucky General Assembly wrapped up its final day before the start of a veto recess by passing a one-year Executive Branch budget.

The Senate met its constitutional obligation to pass a state budget this week, but the spending plan was truncated because of COVID-19. It’s simply unclear how severe the disease’s impact will be on the amount of taxes collected or the citizenry’s wellbeing.

I let Garey cut my hair.  It was driving me crazy.  He did a pretty good job, but he’s no Carol Deweese.  From the national news reports, it looks like a lot of us have Quarantine Hair.  I saw one woman teaching other women how to touch up their gray roots with a permanent marker—it actually worked!

Temptation in and of itself is not sinning, but it will lead us into sin and finally death if we do not resist it (Jas. 1:14-15). Thus, it behooves us to ask how we can resist the temptations we face?

I heard a piece of advice that is very beneficial.  Do not look at your screen time end of the week update during quarantine.  It’s likely you’re on it a lot during these times so it’s best to disregard that Sunday morning report.  Boredom will make you do interesting things.  It’ll make you do things that you wouldn’t normally.

Last week during a warm evening, I got a mosquito bite (at least it itched like one…). Earlier that same day, I had gotten a bite of some kind – likely a spider – while working in the yard. Thinking about our winter and the warming of the earth, I did some reading about pests: stinging pests, ticks and mosquitoes. I love warm weather, but pests are a nuisance.

Don Locke: Thru the bifocals

Of people, things and stuff; people are most interesting.

You may remember John Wayne, the actor.  His real name was Marion Morrison.  His nick name was, “Duke”.  Wayne did a lot of his own movie stunts. He went to the chiropter once a week, sometimes twice.

On Saturday, I cut down a Bradford pear tree with my pruning saw.  The tree wasn’t one I set out.  It was one that sprung up on its own in the little grove of trees behind my house.  The tree had several thorns, like the wild version often does.  I let it live there way past its welcome.  I kept meaning to ask Garey to dig it up with his backhoe
