Betty Louise Phelps Burden, age 84, of Cromwell, Ky. passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Twin Rivers Nursing Home in Owensboro.  She was born on Feb. 7, 1939 to late Erdist and Margaret Lucille Martin Phelps. She was a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church and retired from sitting with the elderly. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ira Neil Burden; sisters Bertha Willingham and Wilma Abernathy and brother James Phelps.

James Ray Johnson, age 76 of Morgantown, KY passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. James was born on Sunday, July 21, 1946 in Butler County, KY to the union of the late Roy L. and Loretha Harris Johnson. He was a member of Richland Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Lee Brick and Block. James enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family.

Virginia Ruth Alexander Flener age 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Kingswood Senior Living Community.  She was born on May 27, 1931 to the late Rev. Alta Herbert (A. H.) and Birdie Virginia Pitcock Alexander. She was an elementary teacher and reading recovery teacher in Kentucky. Ruth graduated from Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee and received her Master of Arts in Education from Western Kentucky University. She was a member of Resurrection, A United Methodist Church in Leawood, Kansas.

Glendal Wayne Cardwell, age 65 of Morgantown, KY passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Wayne was born on Saturday, December 7, 1957 in Butler County, KY to the union of the late John and Winnie Ann Cardwell. He enjoyed racing, fishing and going hunting. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one son Bradley Cardwell and several brothers and sisters. 

Rayburn Edward “Mickey” Burdin, 86, of Horse Branch, Kentucky passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 with his family by his side under the care of Hospice of Ohio County. He was born February 26, 1937 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late John T. Burdin and Eddith Morris Burdin. Mickey was a farmer and member of Sugar Grove Church of Christ.

Charles E. Wendle, age 83, of Cromwell, Ky. passed away on Sunday, Apr. 23, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Wayne Co., Il. on Aug. 11, 1939 to the late Clarence and Olive Garris Wendle.  He was a Vietnam Veteran, a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Lodge.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, whittling and spending time with his family.   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carolyn Blaine Wendle and brother Vernon Lee.

Phillip Glen Drake Jr., age 60 of Morgantown, KY passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his residence. Phillip was born on Monday, May 21, 1962 in Butler County, KY to the late Philip Drake and Velma C. Proctor Embry who survives. He was of the Baptist Faith, he enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and loved his dogs. Other than his father he is preceded in death by one nephew Kevin Burden and one great niece Faithlynn Burden. 

In peaceful rest, Patricia Ann Dow Jackson passed on April 4th, 2023 in Jacksonville, FL. She was with family. Her story began on November 25th, 1935, in Kirtlington, Oxfordshire, a small village near Woodstock, England. During her time in Kirtlington, she grew up in a typical British family, but her life to come was far from typical.

Doug Phelps, age 63, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Saturday, Apr. 15, 2023 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was born in Logan Co., Ky. on Mar. 4, 1960 to the late Clarence and Dorothy Douglas Phelps.  Doug was a member of Carve Rock Baptist Church and was an owner and truck driver for Double P Trucking.  He enjoyed riding his horse Big Ace and 4 wheeling on his farm with his dog, Bear.   He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Doris Lou Phelps and Brenda White; brothers Jimmie Phelps and Moss Phelps.

Ronnie Wayne Carpenter, age 74 of Morgantown, KY passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at his residence. Ronnie was born on Wednesday, October 20, 1948 in Butler County, KY to the union of the late Odus and Odea Parks Carpenter. He was a United States Vietnam Army Veteran and co-founder and co-owner of Triple C Leather. Ronnie enjoyed spending time with family and watching Walker Texas Ranger. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one sister Irene Hudnall; two brothers Lyndol and W.C. Carpenter and a infant sister Geraldine Carpenter.
