Wanda June Humphrey, age 97 passed away Wednesday the 1st day of February 2023 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab Center. June was born to the union of the late Eclus "Eck" and Mazie Kitchens Harper on Wednesday the 20th day of January 1926 in the Huntsville Community of Butler County. June was the wife of the late David Hartis Sr., Burna "Chick" Porter and Russell Ben Humphrey.

Jeremiah Daniel Cardwell, age 45 passed away Saturday the 21th day of January 2023 at his residence. Jeremiah was born Monday the 28th day of February 1977 in Bowling Green, KY to Randell J. Cardwell and the late Sheila F. Morris Seeley. He was a member of New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and worked as a stone mason. Jeremiah loved spending time with his children and taking them fishing. He enjoyed doing stone work and 4 wheeler riding. Other than his mother he is preceded in death by his grandparents Ancil and Geneva Cardwell and grandfather Edwin Morris. 

Verbal L. (Cook) Haist, age 91 passed away Thursday the 19th day of January at Morgantown Care & Rehab Center. Verbal was born to the union  of the late Lawrence and Mavis B. Morris Cook on Monday the 6th day of July 1931 in Butler County, KY. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by one brother Wilbur Cook and one sister Gaynell Hodges. Verbal moved to Louisville during her working years but returned to her beginnings after she retired from Rohm and Haas Company. She enjoyed renewing old friendships, spending time with family and pursing her passion of quilt making.

Dorothy Lorene (Green) Peay, age 89 passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in Tyler, Texas. Dorothy was born on February 25, 1933, in Provo, Kentucky, the daughter of Pauline (Green) White. She married Clell Peay on August 18, 1956, and together welcomed their children, David, Timothy, and Paula.

Hillard Johnson, 85, of Horse Branch, Kentucky passed away on January 15, 2023, under the care of Ohio County Hospice at his sons’ residence.  He was born March 9, 1937, to the late Homer and Arziney Embry Johnson.  Hillard was a longtime farmer and dearly loved raising cattle, hunting, and fishing. He most loved listening to Bluegrass music and his Grandbabies.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joan Albin Johnson in 2007 and three brothers, Chelcie Johnson, Randall Johnson and Thornton Johnson.

Huey C. Coots, age 81 passed away Thursday the 12th day of January 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. Huey was born to the union of the late Harrison and Agnes Henderson Coots on Monday the 1st day of September 1941 in Butler County, KY. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one son Huey Coots Jr., two brothers Dewey and Bobby Coots, one sister Wilma Ruth Allen and one granddaughter Adrienne Paige Phelps. Huey was a member of Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church and Cassia Lodge #272.

Ruth Maxine Carroll, age 87 passed away Thursday the 12th day of January 2023 at her residence. Maxine was born to the union of the late Charlie and Zula Woolridge Neighbors on Thursday the 14th day of November 1935 in Butler County, KY. She was the wife of the late Luther T. Carroll. Maxine was preceded in death by four sisters Ilene Price, Jean Payne, Corinne Neighbors and Amba Neighbors and two brothers Harold and Eddie Neighbors. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. Maxine enjoyed farming, gardening, her chickens and cooking.

James Edward Parker, age 82, passed away Sunday the 8th day of January 2023 at his residence in Beaver Dam, KY. James was born to the union of the late Raymond C. and Sarah Roach Parker on Monday the 22nd day of January 1940 in South Carrolton, KY. He is preceded in death by one brother Jackie Parker. James was a member of Rochester Missionary Baptist Church and a United States Air Force Veteran.

Esther B. Anderson, age 85  passed away Saturday the 7th day of January 2023 at the Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville, KY. Esther was born to the union of the late Perdie and Iva Belcher Brown on Monday the 7th day of June 1937 in Warren County, KY. Esther was the wife of the late Kermit Anderson. She was preceded in death by one son Kermit Anderson Jr., one great grandson John Daniel Anderson and one sister Ina Miller. Esther was a member of Guptons Grove Baptist Church and a retired cashier for many years. She loved to work and spend time with family and friends.
