Power to the Pets

Animal abuse is still a big problem that needs to be addressed even though the number of cases has decreased in Kentucky from 2007 to 2010.
2007, the total number of animal abuse cases in Kentucky was 39
2008, the total number of animal abuse cases in Kentucky was 27
2009, the total number of animal abuse cases in Kentucky was 14
2010, the total number of animal abuse cases in Kentucky was 15
            (retrieved from http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/cruelty_database/statistics/yearly_animal...)

People seem to think that it’s okay to continue to abuse animals based on the current case numbers continuing to rise.  Be a good citizen and help prevent animal abuse, and stand up for animals in your community.

We are Power to the Pets a Student Technology Leadership Program Showcase group from Butler County Middle School.  We are trying to prevent animal abuse and increase awareness by communicating to others ways to provide needed supplies and volunteer information.  We have been volunteering, donating money and supplies to our local animal hospital and animal shelter.

There are many things to donate to your local animal shelter or animal hospital such as; towels, blankets, food, newspapers and many other items.  There are many ways to help and prevent animal abuse in your community, but awareness is the first step.

Thanks to the BCMS Book Club for hosting a "Pet Themed" book club meeting in February where people brought in supplies, did activities about pets, and had the local animal shelter employees’ talk about the shelter and the animals.
