A Super Saturday for Monticello Baptist Members

Saturday, September 7, a group from Monticello Baptist Church travelled to Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro for Super Saturday, a day of training and strengthening for church members.  They arrived at Bellevue a little after 9 am, in time to register, receive name tags and head to the foyer for the opening service.

After service, they headed to variety of seminars.  There is one morning conference followed by two after lunch.
“I went to the seminar for my specific position of Sunday School Director.  It was called Driving in the Extreme Sunday School Challenge,” said Andy Sullivan.
The class was taught by Jeff Smith, Minister of Education at Huntsbourne Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.  The class was all about apprenticing new leaders and launch new groups. Items discussed were:  the qualities of maturity such as discerning, humility, wise, patient, etc., and the four results of a healthy Sunday School class, which are: 1) Evangelistic, Ministry engaged, stewardship (are you good stewards) and influence.
After lunch from Subway, the afternoon seminars got underway.  Becoming a Place Of Worship taught by church growth expert Gary McIntosh (President of the Church Growth Network in Temecula, CA) offered sound advice on ways in which to attract, welcome and follow up with visitors who attend the worship service.

The third seminar was titled Pit Crew: Finding and Developing Leaders.  This was taught by Daryl Wilson, KBC Sunday School & Discipleship Consultant.  Daryl admitted  that he had been given an introvert personality by God and “here I am speaking in front of you today” he said.  Shows you what God can do, doesn’t it?
Leadership multiplication basics are this: I do, you watch. I do, you help.  You do, I help.  You do, I watch.  You do, someone else watches.  When you invest in leaders, it is also discipleship.
Those attending found Super Saturday  an information packed event and encourages others to attend.
