Patriots of the American Revolution Memorial in Warren County, KY

Zachary Cole (Zacheus or Zachariah), son of Captain Joseph Cole, Sr. and Freelove Mason Cole, served in the American Revolution as a soldier for Virginia. From Summers, annals of SW Virginia, part 2, page 1385; he served in McFarland’s Company in Washington and Montgomery Counties. His family was able to serve in the war efforts in many ways. Zachary’ s father Captain Joseph Cole, Sr. gave Civil service for Virginia, his brother Joseph Cole, Jr. served as a Captain for Virginia. Two other brothers also served; Hugh Cole was a Lieutenant for New York and Sampson Cole gave Patriotic service for Virginia. 

Zachary Cole, my 5th great grandfather was born around 1748-1757, possibly in Massachusetts (Virginia) from wiki tree/find a grave/familysearch.org and died in Warren County, KY after 1813. He first married Mary Cole (1756-1780) in March 1775. They had a son Ebenezer Cole, my 4th great grandfather, in about 1778 in Washington County, Virginia and died in July 1840 in Butler County, KY.  He married Mary Romans (1782-1840) on January 1, 1798, in Garrard County, KY. Ebenezer and Mary had a daughter Sarah Cole, my 3rd greatgrandmother on October 10, 1809, in KY who died on July 16, 1886, in Butler County, KY. She married John Lewis Martin (1806-1893) on June 8, 1830, in Warren County, KY. John and Sarah had a son, John Marion Martin, my 2nd great grandfather on February 22, 1848, in Martindale, Butler County, KY who died on June 11, 1911, in Butler County. John married Malissa Renfrow (1845-1896) on November 17, 1864, in Butler County, KY. John and Malissa had a son, Lewis Edward Martin, mygreat grandfather, on September 16, 1864, in KY who died on December 15, 1954, in Morgantown, Butler County, KY. Lewis Edward married Minnie West (1875-1917) on November 19, 1891, in Butler County. Lewis and Minnie had a son, Wilbur B Martin, my grandfather on May 12, 1898, in Butler County who died on October 20, 1900, in Aberdeen, Butler County, KY. Wilbur married Altha Willis (1906-2000) on June 3, 1921, in Butler County, KY. Wilbur and Altha had a son, Earl UldricMartin, my father, on March 29, 1922, in Butler County who died on July 5, 1986, in Butler County. Earl Uldric Martin married my mother, Anna Christine Kitchens (1930-1999) on July 12, 1945, in Kentucky.
