There will be a celebration at Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday October 10th at 4:00 PM for the church and the Brooklyn Community.  Singing by Kentucky Sound Old Time Gospel with a Chili Supper following.  Please bring your pictures for the board and your stories.  For more information, call 270-230-3363.

Woodbury Baptist Church will be in revival starting Sunday, October 11-14th at 6:00pm nightly.  Laddie Pride will bring the message.  There will be special singing nightly and everyone is invited.

Come join us in celebrating the 90th birthday of our mother Helen Reid Gidcumb Smith on October 4,2015  at the Eva Hawes pavilion from 1:30 to 4:30.  There will be a potluck dinner served.  No gift please.  Helen is the daughter of the late Nettie Ayers Jones,  Robert Gidcumb, and step father Stanley Jones, sister to Robert Elan Gidcumb, deceased, and Emma Jean Gidcumb Matthis, deceased.

“What should I do, Chloe? I’m one hundred, forty eight dollars short,” I said, my heart pounding.
“And fifty cents,” said the cashier.
“Excuse me?” I asked, confused.
“You’re one hundred, forty eight dollars and fifty cents short,” she repeated.
I felt a tear sting my eye. The cashier, who was wearing a tag that read, “Hi, I’m Lizzie,” said, “I’ll help you,” as she pulled out a form.

Saturday, September 19 was the Rochester Festival, benefitting the Rochester Fire Department.  It was held at the Rochester Park. Craft vendors, a beauty pageant, all-day music and a car show, as well as great food, were highlights of the day.  Another big draw was the annual raffle for UK basketball tickets.
