March Madness Leadership Day @ Morgantown Elementary

Morgantown Elementary School opened their doors to the community on Friday, March 18, 2016 and let others see the amazing transformation that has taken place within their building for staff and students alike. Students showcased their leadership skills, and staff shared their successes.

The day kicked off with registration and breakfast in the school’s Media Center.  Visitors were then escorted to the gymnasium for Fantastic Friday, which was led by students.  Weekly Leaders were honored, birthdays were celebrated, and donations from the community were recognized.

Donations were made to the Butler County Leader in Me program from:

PBI Bank

Ingram Brothers/Final Finish

Delta Faucet
Visitors returned to the Media Center and was welcomed by the Voice of MES, Brady Jones. Principal Chad Flener gave an overview of the program, students gave a presentation of the 7 Habits, and classes recited their classroom mission statements.

Parent Jason Jones shared his thoughts about the Leader In Me Program at MES.  “As a parent I see the Seven Habits in action at school and at home.  We (as a family) are using the habits. I see my son taking pride in his job at school and being much more responsible.”

Small groups were escorted by students to a panel discussion, tours of classrooms, and tri-folds in the gym. Participants in the Leadership Day gained a better understanding of the 7 Habits and how they are incorporated into daily learning, witness student achievement through various graphs on display throughout the building, and discover the joys of being a Leader in Me school. They also witness students as leaders; by giving presentations, singing songs, serving as host/hostess, greeting guests and sharing their academic success.

Leadership day concluded with lunch and a final song by the students.

Butler County is unique in that the "Community Partners in Education with the Butler County Schools" to support the Leader In Me program.
