Northside Kennels Receives Best Beagle Breeder of 2017 Award

Recently Wag! an online website dedicated to helping bring dog owners together for available pet services, reviews, and blogs awarded Northside Kennels as being the Best Beagle Breeder of 2017 Award.  The recipient was chosen by Wag! based on an analysis of top Beagle breeders and cross-referencing positive social media interaction and comments over the last 12 months.

Greathouse and Nash VFW Auxiliary 5837 Veterans of the Year

Connie Holman Greathouse

Connie Holman Greathouse is the oldest daughter of James and Melba Holman of Provo, KY. Connie attended Butler County High School, and while studying health occupations in school, it became clear that nursing would be her calling. At the age of nineteen, Connie enlisted in the United States Air Force to obtain the G.I. bill and the opportunity to go to college. Connie signed up for a delayed enlistment in 1976, the year the WAFs (Women in Air Force) ended, and women were allowed to enter the USAF as equal members and enter career fields previously not open to women.

FCCLA Activities

Members of the Butler County High Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America have been busy the past few months.  Officers and select members attended the Region 4 Leadership Meeting at Hillvue in late August.  Members participated in officer training and community service activities.

Cruisin’ For a Cure Provo Style

Saturday, October 14, Provo Rural Development held its annual cruise-in with proceeds of $1,000 benefitting Butler County Cancer Assistance.  Before the car show, there was a parade with approximately 50 entries starting at Monticello Baptist Church and ending at the Provo Community Center.

2nd District Fire Department Annual Fundraiser

The 2nd District Fire Department held its annual fundraiser on Saturday, October 14th.  The event consisted of games, music, tractor show, auction, and a lot of fun.  People from all over the county were in attendance to participate in the events and show their support for the service that the fire department provides.

4th Annual Butler County Genealogy Society Event

The Butler County Genealogy Society held their fourth annual homecoming event on Saturday at the Eva J. Hawes Building in Morgantown.  Over 40 people from Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Lexington, Louisville and Butler County attended.
