BCPL Director Kenna Martin Speaks at the Annual West Virginia Library Association Fall Conference

Library Director Kenna Martin and Children’s Librarian Kathy Lawrence represented Butler County during the 100th Annual West Virginia Library Association Fall Conference in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.  For 100 years librarians in West Virginia have been formally gathering to share ideas.  The theme of the conference was Interconnectedness: The State of Being Connected with Each Other.  Martin submitted a program proposal for presentation and was accepted.

Throughout Life, we have people placed in our path that isn't "blood " family, but they quickly become family. This was the case when I met Shayla Forgy several years ago. She honestly felt like my daughter from the second I met her, now I've considered her just that for many many years. When she and Jeff welcomed Lexi into the world, she immediately became our granddaughter. This story I wrote was probably the most personal story I've ever written and the hardest.

FREE Acrylic Painting Class at Extension Office – November 16th

Join us for an upcoming Acrylic Painting Class scheduled for Thursday, November 16th at the Butler County Extension Service at 10 a.m. and again at 5 p.m.

Create your replica of Cinnamon Cooney’s “Couple Walking in the Rain.”  There will be no charge to attend, but you will be responsible for providing your own supplies and canvas. This will be a step-by-step painting process that both beginners and experienced painters can enjoy.

Four Keown Brothers to be Honored by Green River NSDAR Veterans Day 2017

Floyd Keown- Served in the Army for 2 years 1955 and 1956

The Green River Chapter NSDAR will host the Veteran’s Reception on Saturday, November 11th right after the Veterans Day Parade. This year we have chosen to honor the Keown Brothers: Bobby, Dean and Royce.  There will also be a memorial tribute to Floyd Keown, their older brother.  Everyone is invited.

Kenzie earns spot on Kentucky District Bible Quiz Team

Kenzie Morgan

Kenzie Morgan a 5th grade Bible quizzer who attends MtownNAZ in Aberdeen earned a spot on the Kentucky District Bible Quiz Team.  Quizzers from across Kentucky District Church of the Nazarene competed for a spot on the team.  Kenzie will travel with the team to St. Louis, Missouri where they will compete against teams from across the Church of the Nazarene US/Canada.

So Julie and her friends decided to jump on board and become " facebookers."  Little did she know, the impact that reconnecting with some of her high school girlfriends was about to have on her life.

Harvest @ Pamida 2017

Harvest on the Square was held on Saturday at the former Pamida building (soon to be the new Extension Office).  Over 50 booths set up both inside and outside offering a variety of items for sale.  Several long standing events were also held throughout the day.
