The Arts Live at North Butler Elementary

Mollee Sutherland backed by Chris Carmichael

This past February 16, wasn’t designated as an official Arts day on the school calendar, but after touring the hallway murals, seeing a ceramic tile project in progress, and a visit by the Kentucky Blues Society it easily could have been. Along with some excellent academics, North Butler is blessed to have some very talented teachers and enthusiastic students involved in music and the visual arts.

Green River School named 1st Place in the Read-A-Thon photo contest

We believe it is critical for students in secure facilities to explore the power of reading at every opportunity; to read for pleasure, not just for a grade; and to develop the habit of reading. So, in February 2018 Center for Educational Excellence in Alternative Settings (CEEAS) sponsored a month-long readathon and book review project called Unbound. Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, agreed to donate a bundle of books through the Scholastic Possible Fund to each of the participating sites.
