Having your appendix removed should be no big deal, right? If you think not, Becky Grise would like to share her adventure of having this “normal” procedure done with you. At the age of 28, Becky Grise developed appendicitis. In order to keep them from rupturing, she entered the hospital as a “normal procedure” to have them removed. The protocol was to enter the hospital, go home after the procedure, OR worst-case scenario, the next morning. All seemed to have gone well with the laparoscopic surgery until she began passing blood through her urine.

The Butler County Homemakers are staying busy, even through the snowy weather with club meetings, preparing the Homemaker Scholarship forms, and receiving lessons for upcoming meetings.

The February Homemaker lesson, that may be of interest to many of you, will be on Essential Oils.  The Essential Oils training is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30th at the Extension Office at 1 p.m.  This lesson is for all Butler County Homemaker Food, Health and Nutrition Chairs and is also available to anyone with interest!

The Kentucky Festivals State Pageant was held at Embassy Suites in Lexington on Nov. 18th. Emalyn Pearl Southerland represented the Owensboro Summer Fest pageant. Her parents are Tim and Mandy Southerland of Morgantown.  Her pageant director is Hannah Ward of the Owensboro Summerfest and Hartford Harvest Festival pageant systems.

I just can't help myself; I get all giddy when I watch or read a good love story. This world needs more of those (and I don't mean on tv). So I went on a search for a "real" love story, and I found David and Ruth Ann Hunt. Although I've known the Hunt's for years, I'd never talked to them much but knowing their daughter Jeanie; I've seen plenty of pictures of them on Facebook. When I was seeking out a love story, they were honestly the first couple to come to mind. So, doing what I do, I chased the story.
