Green River School named 1st Place in the Read-A-Thon photo contest

We believe it is critical for students in secure facilities to explore the power of reading at every opportunity; to read for pleasure, not just for a grade; and to develop the habit of reading. So, in February 2018 Center for Educational Excellence in Alternative Settings (CEEAS) sponsored a month-long readathon and book review project called Unbound. Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, agreed to donate a bundle of books through the Scholastic Possible Fund to each of the participating sites. National participating in secure care facilities around the country. Unbound is a month-long readathon for students in secure settings. At CEEAS, we believe it is critical for students in secure facilities to explore the power of reading at every opportunity; to read for pleasure, not just for a grade; and to develop the habit of reading. Unbound will provide a framework and incentives to increase students’ engagement with books. We are proud to announce that Green River School has been named 1st Place in the Read-A-Thon photo contest.  Congratulations to Ms. Renea Hunt’s class and all the hard work they do.
