B.C. Elementary Girls' Team - West KY Champs

On Thursday, Oct. 20th, the Butler County Cross Country team traveled to the Muhlenberg South campus for the West Kentucky Championship of Elementary and Middle School teams.

5th Annual Tractor Show

By all accounts the 2011 Butler County Antique Engine and Tractor Club show, held Friday and Saturday at Charles Black T. City Park, was quite a success. This year, the event hosted the Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America East-Central show as well. Event spokesman, Roger Tanner, reported the total participation at 251 items including:142 tractors, 12 cars and trucks, 37 engines, 35 lawnmowers
10 chain saws, 8 pieces of farm equipment and 7 miscellaneous items.

Upward Basketball & Cheerleading

Registration for Upward Basketball & Cheerleading will begin on Saturday 11/19/11 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Butler County Middle  School Gym and on Saturday 12/10/11 at Aberdeen Baptist Church Gym.  It is important to attend this registration as an evaluation will be conducted for basketball players and an orientation session for cheerleaders, as well as uniform sizing. Upward Sports is for boys and girls, K4 – grade 6. K4 children must be 4 years old before January 1, 2012.

Hornets Escapes Bears 25-20

The Butler Co. Bears lost a heartbreaker at Hancock Co. HS by the score of 25-20. The game see-sawed back and forth. The game was a key Class 2A District 2 clash with the winner locking up the #2 seed and a home field advantage in the first round of the Class 2A State Playoffs. The Bears and Hornets realized the importance of this game, and from the onset it was evident as the game would not be decided until the final seconds of play.

Bears, Hornets Set to Battle in Key Gridiron Contest

 Butler County (7-1 overall and 3-1 in district play) returns to action this week at Hancock County (4-4, 3-1) in a key district contest that will reward the winner with a second place finish and the right to host a first-round home playoff game.  The Bears had their "bye" week last week in what BCHS head coach Ryan Emmick described as good timing for his team.

BC Middle Splits Games with Ohio County

Last night Butler County Middle School Lady Bears took to the hardwood against neighboring Ohio County Middle School Eagles. The 7th grade girls controlled the entire game and prevented a mid-game surge by OCMS. Assistant Coach Angie Easley credited the defense in holding OCMS to just 2 points in the 4th quarter. Allie Easley led the way for the Lady Bears with 8 points.

Robbins, Neighbors, and Jenkins Take Top Honors at Glasgow

The Butler County Cross-Country team traveled to Glasgow on Saturday October 15th to compete in the Glasgow Christian Academy Warrior Run.

BCHS Marching Band Competes At Grayson, Prepares for Regional

The Butler County High School Marching Band competed in the Twin Lakes Marching Band Contest, at Grayson County High School on Saturday, October 15, 2011 in their last competition of regular season. The 2A class consisted of four bands, Butler County, Green County, Edmonson County, and Washington County.

Reynolds Named to All-District Volleyball Team

Butler County High School junior Jazmin Reynolds was named to the 12th District All-District Volleyball Team last night at Whitesville Trinity. Reynolds joined Sopie Henderson, Hannah Coomes, and Katie Winkler of Trinity and Katie Newton and Katherine McCrady of Grayson on the team. Butler County fell to Grayson County 0-2 in the first round of play. Trinity captured the 12th District Title. 

"I am very proud of Jazmin, she works hard, provides leadership and is an excellent student," said Coach Diane Dyer.
