Dockery named BCHS boys' b-ball coach; Emmick, Embry to share AD duties

Butler County High School Principal and Athletic Director Patrick O'Driscoll has named Calvin Dockery head coach of the Bears' basketball team and Ryan Emmick and Brandon Embry as co-athletic directors. Dockery will be filling the vacancy left by Greg Woodcock, while Emmick and Embry will follow O'Driscoll as A.D.

BCHS Band Performs At Hot Rods Game

The Butler County High School Band sold tickets to the Bowling Green Hot Rods game  on May 15th. The band received a percentage of the ticket sales. The best part of the night was hearing our very talented and professional band play The National Anthem for the opening of the game.

Butler County Softball retires #3 in honor of CheyAnne Gaskey

The Butler County High School Bears' softball team retired the #3 jersey worn by former standout pitcher CheyAnne Gaskey during her 7-year playing career at the school. The ceremony will took place on Wednesday, May 16, just prior to the Bears game against Breckinridge Coutny at the Butler County Baseball/Softball Complex.

TENNIS: Hampton to compete in State Tournament

Butler County Tennis player Chanda Hampton will be making to trip to Lexington to compete in the 2012 KHSAA State Tennis Tournament. Hampton made an appearance in the finals of the 3rd Region Tennis Championships where she fell to Kendall Moore from Daviess County 6-2, 6-4. The finalists and semifinalists from all 16 regions advance to the state tournament where they are seeded and compete in a single elimination tournament.

BASEBALL: Bears blowout Trinity, fall to Grayson and Edmonson

Over the past week the BCHS Bears baseball team saw action in 3 district games, finishing out their regular season district schedule.  Coming into the start of the week, the Bears were 2-1 in district with wins over Edmonson County, and Whitesville-Trinity, and one loss to Grayson County.  The Bears finished the week going 1-2 with a 2-1 loss to Grayson, a 10-3 loss to Edmonson and a 15-0 blowout win over Whitesville.

BCHS Football: Blue/White Game

Fans made their way to see the annual Butler County High School blue/ white football game on Thursday evening, May 3. Head coach Ryan Emmick explained, “This is an opportunity for these players to showcase their hard work during spring practice. This also gives the coaching staff an indication of what needs to be focused on before the season begins in August.”
 
Emmick went on to say, “We have two very capable quarterbacks this year in Zeke Woodcock and Elijah Flener. This game allows both young men to run and become familiar with the offense.”

BASEBALL: Bears win big over Raiders, fall to Mustangs

The BCHS Bears baseball team has seen action in two varsity and one junior varsity games this week.  On Monday night the Bears had a home varsity game against Muhlenberg County losing 7-0, and played district foe Whitesville-Trinity on Tuesday night, winning big 11-1 in 6 innings in the varsity game, and 5-4 in the JV game.

Youth Football and Youth Football Camp Sign-Ups

2012 BUTLER COUNTY YOUTH FOOTBALL SIGN UP
AND BUTLER COUNTY YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP

Sign-ups:  This sign up is for both the 2012 Youth Football Season and the 2012 Butler County Youth Football Camps.  You can fill out forms and send back to school with $50.  This cost covers both the 2012 Youth Football Season and 2012 Youth Football Camp.  Make check out to Butler County Quarterback Club.  We will sign players up June 9 from 10:00-4:00 pm at BCHS GAME FIELD.

Cost:  $50 per camper.  This includes both the camp and 2012 Youth Football Season Sign Up Fee.

Youth Football Coaches Clinic

The Butler County High School Football Coaches will hold a Football Clinic for all Youth Football Coaches for the 2012 season.  Various topics discussed will be Offense, Defense, Special Teams, Position Specific Drills and Techniques, and general team building activities.  This will be held at the high school June 4th and 8th from 5pm-7pm.  Any questions, please call Coach Ryan Emmick at 270-999-4161 or Mike Elmore at 270-999-1556.

Swim Team Sign-Ups

The Morgantown-Butler County Swim Team is now taking signups for the 2012 season. We are looking forward to a great season.

Things you should know:
The swim season is for 2 months (June - July)
Practices are 5 days a week 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Swim Meets last for around 4 hours
Parent volunteers are needed at each meet
YOUR CHILD MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM (We will teach them the 4 different strokes)

The fee is $50 per swimmer of for a family of 2 or more swimmers $40 per swimmer.
