BCHS Soccer

Senior night and a tough battle for the BCHS Boys’ soccer team as they took on nearby county rival the Muhlenberg County Mustangs at home on Monday night.
Before the game began, BCHS Bears senior members from both the boys and girls soccer teams were recognized. Each senior walked with their chaperones and a rose through a tunnel made from the outstretched swords held high by the Butler County High School ROTC.
When it was time for the game, kick by kick it became clear that head coach James Melton and the Bears came ready to play.

During the first half the Bears came close to making a goal, but were turned away by the Mustangs. This did not stop the Bears. They kept defending and returning the ball, but by the end of the game a goal in their favor had not been made. The game ended with a score of Bears 0 Mustangs 7.

Some interesting facts that this reporter learned while at the soccer game:
1.    One of the recently updated features that you must see if you live in Butler County is the soccer field itself. The newly renovated soccer field at Charles T. Black park boosts lighting, a digital scoreboard, and other amenities that each of the soccer teams took full advantage of.
2.    According to his Mother, goalie and Butler County High School Senior Dylan Snyder had previously played for the Bears football team. This became clear when Dylan returned the ball with a kick to the other end of the field.
Last but not least:
Get out your blue and come support! This year the BCHS girls will host the 2013 District Soccer Tournament. The tournament will be held at the high school soccer field at the Charles T. Black City Park starting on Monday, October 14. Keep an eye on Beech Tree News closer to the date for specific times and information.
