Spring Fling 2014

A day that started chilly and cloudy turned into a nice day for the 2014 Spring Fling in Morgantown on Saturday. More than 20 vendors and exhibitors set up booths and tables on Main Street, and a good flow of visitors mixed and mingled and enjoyed the day.

Events included a stick horse race, music provided by Colin Coots and Kenny Johnson, and even a wedding administered by County-Judge Executive David Fields.

With the Primary Elections only two weeks away there was also a strong turnout by Butler County politicos. Candidates for Magistrate, County Judge, Jailer, PVA, and Sheriff were on hand, as well as the candidates for Morgantown Mayor.

Items on display ranged from Avon, to hand made jewelry, with one of the more popular stops being at the Beechtree News/WLBQ tent for free pencils, note pads, and CDs. Plenty of homemade food and treats were also available, and popular, as some of Butler County's finest cooks rose to the occasion.

All in all the event was declared a success. Participants offered a few tweaks for next year's event, but it was agreed that the four-hour gathering was something that needs to grow in coming years.>
