September 17, 2013, begins the national celebration of Constitution Week. The weeklong commemoration of America’s most important document is one of our country’s least known official observances. Our Constitution stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties and freedom, and to ensure those inalienable rights to every American.

It all started on April 28,2013 with a devotional, when young single adults from all the southeastern United States kicked off a summer program, with emphasis on initiation and outreach, service activities and genealogy research.  A capstone conference was held on August 9-11 simultaneously in Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Hattiesburg and Orlando with approximately 3000 young singles involved in the activities associated with this event

On Thur., Aug. 29, Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) will host a U.S. Service Academy Information Fair. The event will be held at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center in Bowling Green. It is open to the press and Sen. Paul will be available to the media prior to the event.

Butler County ATC Health Science class has a variety of programs where students can train, test, and hopefully receive their state certification. One of the programs offered is Pharmacy Technician. Alex Hall is the first student to take the state exam and receive his certification for Pharmacy Technician from Butler Co ATC.  Alex worked on a practicum from his Health Science class with the Morgantown Prescription Center during his senior year.

The Butler County Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 13, at the Butler County Education Complex.

The Butler County Fiscal Court held its monthly meeting for August on Monday night, August 13th, 2013. All Court members were present, along with a fairly large crowd of visitors and interested parties. Most of the extra attendees showed up because of recent media reports of a sale of property in Butler county by the City of Bowling Green. The property in question was allegedly being sold to Owl’s Head Alloys for the purpose of opening a landfill.

The proposed sale of property on Rochester Road wasn’t the only business before the Butler County Fiscal Court at its regular monthly meeting for August. Several other agenda items awaited the Court at the Monday, August 12th, 2013 meeting.

On Friday, August 9th a group representing the Butler County Arts Guild traveled to Allen County to tour Scottsville and get some fresh ideas on how to bring the creative arts and historic restoration to the forefront of Butler County and Morgantown culture.
Jamie Boler, Heart of Scottsville's Main Street Manager, had previously spoken at a meeting of the Butler County Arts Guild and extended an invitation to its members to visit their city.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to 100 Lonnie Snodgrass Road on Sunday afternoon in reference to an accident involving a vehicle and bicycle.
