“The new Chamber website is now up,” announced Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce President James Runion as he greeted members and guests to the March luncheon Thursday. The meal was sponsored by Heritage Animal Hospital, Morgantown Utilities, State Farm Insurance, Blackhawk Composites, McDonalds and WRECC. Preparing the  meal were chamber secretaries Donna Morris and Annette Jared assisted in serving by Darla and Crissy from the Butler County Rescue Squad. Those who helped were given warm applause. Desserts were donated by Country Oven Bakery.

The Morgantown Industrial Holding Corporation (I.H.C.) and Morgantown City Council held a called meeting of each group Monday afternoon, March 30, at the Eva J. Hawes Ag/Expo Community Building.  The I.H.C. met first with only two items on the agenda.  They first approved the minutes of the February 2, 2015 meeting.  The second item was insurance for the Kentucky Copper building.  The deadline for payment from Kentucky Copper is Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
“We have to be ready to insure the building on April 1, 2015,” said Mayor Billy Phelps.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. —An area tattoo studio is making history, becoming the first business of its kind in the country to receive a 'Safe Place' designation.

Usually the yellow signs hang in community centers or firehouses, designating a place where young people in any situation can go for help.

Rick Harlan, the owner of Tattoo Machine Gun, said he is honored to be making history and eager to become part of such a worthwhile program.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority on Thursday gave preliminary approval for incentives to Logan Aluminum for a proposed $282 million expansion.
The company could create 188 jobs, which would pay an average of $50 an hour, including benefits, according to paperwork filed with KEDFA. The wages those jobs would create qualified the company for a $5.2 million tax incentive over 10 years.
"We look at it as a really exciting time in Logan County," Logan County Judge-Executive Logan Chick said.

The Butler County Farm Bureau Insurance office reported a burglary on Tuesday morning. Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward and Morgantown Police Officer Ethan Vincent responded to the scene. Secretary Deanna Russ arrived at the office, located at 231 G.L. Smith Street, shortly before 8:00am and discovered the money bags missing.

According to Agency Manager James Runion , $550 in cash and several checks were taken.

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in special session on Monday night, in what is likely to be one of the last special sessions needed by the Court. It was decided unanimously at the meeting to expand the meeting schedule to two regular meetings, on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.

The Butler County Opry opened to an enthusiastic and supportive crowd of community members Saturday night at the Butler County High School. County Extension Agent Greg Drake was emcee, entertaining the crowd between songs for the 3 hour long country music showcase. The Opry featured a mix of classic country songs and modern hits from big names like Patsy Cline, Randy Travis, Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, and the Judds.

Butler County has been selected to receive an award of $6,770 in Federal Funds through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
