KY 1153 Sandy Creek Road in Southern Butler County Set for Long-Term Closure

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Aug. 3, 2025)  A project to replace a drainage structure on KY 1153 Sandy Creek Road over Grassy Lick Creek in southern Butler County is expected to create a long-term closure. The closure on KY 1153 is expected to begin on Monday, Aug.

Woodbury Dam Stays

The Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, July 28, at the Butler County Courthouse. Magistrates Stevie Givens, Allen Smith, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant were in attendance. Kevin Phelps participated by phone.

Colonel Lisa Mann of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lee Andrews of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Chris Wernick, an archeologist and project manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, were present to provide insights on the removal of the Woodbury Dam.

Congressman Guthrie visits CASCO

CASCO was honored to host Congressman Brett Guthrie, State Representative Suzanne Miles, Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps, Butler County Judge Tim Flener, and others for a tour on July 25.  

CASCO Productions Corporation provided a comprehensive overview of the company, shedding light on its ambitious objectives and plans.

Plant manager Matt McKiddy, who has been with CASCO since 2022, shared his focus on fostering a strong, winning workplace culture. He underscored the importance of team building, a positive environment, and community engagement.

Givens presented Don Brod Award at conference of International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors

ISWNE Executive Director Chad Stebbins presents the Don Brod Award to Dr. Deborah T. Givens.

The Don Brod Award, which recognizes members making significant contributions to the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors (ISWNE), was presented to Dr. Deborah T. Givens at the association’s annual conference July 9-13 at South Dakota State University in Brookings.

BOWLING GREEN, KY– Civil Air Patrol’s Kentucky Wing Group II invites the public to attend the Promotion and Awards Ceremony July 29, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Bowling Green/Warren County Airport terminal building at 1000 Woodhurst AVE in Bowling Green. A reception will follow. 

Civil Air Patrol is a non-profit civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force that works with local, state, and federal agencies to provide emergency services, aerospace education, and cadet programs.
