KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority and Bicentennial Volunteers,  Inc., announced $655,000 in robotics awards for 179 schools and non-profit organizations that  serve youth across the TVA’s seven-state region. The funds can be used to create a new  robotics program or enhance a program that already exists.  

Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, August 25, at the courthouse.  All magistrates were in attendance: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Allen Smith, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.

"Today we celebrated a big moment for our community — the official ribbon cutting for Garrison's Department Store," said Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps.

 As part of the City of Morgantown's Entrepreneur and Facade Grant programs, Garrison's new owners, Elijah and Payton Flener, have revitalized a cherished business with a rich history, owned by the Garrison Family since 1957.

Morgantown City Council met on Thursday, August 14th at city hall. The ordinances discussed in this meeting are the first reading, with a second reading being at the special called meeting via zoom.

A familiar name in tire services is entering a new chapter. JT Wheel & Tire, a long-standing local business, recently announced a transition in ownership and an expansion of services under its new name, JTR Tire & Automotive.

Western Kentucky University surpassed its previous record of private support in a fiscal year with a new high of more than $44.5 million raised from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

Butler County Farm Bureau, with the support of the community, hosted a delightful dinner at The Raft on the Green River for the elected officials on Monday, August 11th. The event, which saw the participation of all elected officials from the city, county, and state, was made even more special with a catfish dinner provided by The Farm Boy restaurant.  Greg Drake, a familiar face in our community, served as emcee for the event.
