Republic Services buys Green River Waste

Republic Services, a waste services and recycling company based in Phoenix, AZ,  has acquired the operations of Green River Waste.  According to its website, the company provides waste removal and recycling services to approximately 14 million customers nationwide.  Locally, the service areas that Republic serves now includes Butler, Ohio, Warren, Grayson, Hardin, Muhlenberg, and Bullitt counties.   Republic Services employs nearly 190 staff members and is welcoming 30 team members from Green River Waste.

Morgantown’s Aerospace Composite Solutions to Receive 2025 Kentucky Aviation Achievement Award

MORGANTOWN, Ky. — October 15, 2025 — The Aviation Museum of Kentucky has announced that Aerospace Composite Solutions (ACS) will receive the 2025 Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame Aviation Achievement Award. The award will be presented at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 1, 2025, in Lexington. Tickets for the event are available through October 24.

KSP Make Drug Arrests in Butler County

Morgantown, KY. (October 14, 2025) – On 10/12/2025, Troopers of the Kentucky State Police along with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence on Caney Fork Road in Morgantown in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with multiple people in an R.V. located on the property. Law Enforcement Officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the R.V. During a search of the R.V., officers located suspected fentanyl, multiple scales, and currency.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 Make Drug Arrest in Butler County

MORGANTOWN, KY. (October 14, 2025) – On 10/12/2025, Troopers of the Kentucky State Police along with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence located at 915 Orange Cemetery Road in Morgantown to assist the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Upon arrival, law enforcement detected the odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle on the property and from the residence. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office then obtained a search warrant for the residence. A search of the residence yielded suspected marijuana, THC and synthetic THC products, and currency.

School Board votes to bump property tax rate

The Butler County Board of Education is taking steps to increase its property tax rate from 41.6 cents to 48.4 cents per $100 of assessed value.  The proposed increase would apply to both real and personal property and would not go into effect until the 2026 tax bills.  A public hearing and called meeting for that purpose was held October 1 at the Butler County Early Childhood Center.
