Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

I have been trying to get myself ready for Thanksgiving and the coming days of eating. I don’t want to miss the great foods, and I don’t want to make myself miserable. So, I am working on my mindset. One day doesn’t ruin us: moving in a healthy direction is the main objective.

            God chose Jeremiah to be His prophet at a young age. He would go on to speak God’s word for the next forty years! When he began this work. God told Jeremiah not to use his age as an excuse for not doing the work (Jer. 1:7). Leaves, leaves, and more leaves. I enjoy the colorful leaves of autumn. But for most of my life, I have not enjoyed the bare trees during winter. I am coming around to the rhythm of seasons, including colorful leaves then bare trees.

Cheryl Hughes: Next Chapter

Way back in 2010, Pastor Paul Parks was trying to convince his 16-year-old son, Kaleb, that he needed to take a part-time job at New Image Car Care while he was finishing high school.  His son’s response was, “Why would I want to do that, I’m not going to be changing oil for the rest of my life.”  Kaleb had his sights set on college and a teaching-coaching degree.  His father finally convinced him, however, and Kaleb took the job at our shop.

Jim Waters: Solid recovery a roadblock for gas-tax hike

Kentucky’s economy is recovering despite the pummeling it’s taken from the lockdowns imposed as part of Gov. Andy Beshear’s power grab during the pandemic.

Not only was there a General Fund revenue surplus surpassing $1 billion during the last fiscal year, which ended on June 30, but the state’s Consensus Forecasting Group is estimating an even greater overflow for 2022.
