Last week, Garey and I were reminiscing about the years we spent in a moving vehicle with our kids.  We’re getting ready to take a road trip with our granddaughter in tow.  Things are so different now.  For one, we have a TV we can hook up to a power outlet in the car.  I really wish we had had a TV back in the day when we were on the road every couple of months back and forth to Corner, Alabama, not to mention long trips to the beach.

I’ve been a collector of several things through the years: video games, magazines, cassette tapes, CD’s, video games,  concert tees, UK tees, etc.  Okay, the tee’s are more of a necessity.  It’s not like I just buy them and put them up.  I do wear them.  Lately, I’ve started(rather, restarted) collecting action figures and figurines. 

I have recently done some reading about the midterm election results, our economy and U. S. health care. Each topic is important, but sometimes exhausting. The articles mentioned below provided some unique perspectives.

     Local:  The 2018 local election is now in the history books and for that I'm sure many people are relieved.  Congratulations to Butler County Judge-Executive-elect Tim Flener, who cruised to victory last week over Mark Mudd.

I will always remember the three one-on-one things I got to do with my dad when I was growing up.  I helped him skin a squirrel, clean fish and cut fire wood for the stove we heated with.  Each of those things happened just once when it was only my dad and me.  There were seven kids in the family, so you didn’t get much one-on-one time with anybody.  I carry each one of those events as little points of light inside of me when I become sad over my childhood.  

             Prior to the crucifixion, Pilate tried to release Jesus (Jn. 19:9; Mk. 15:3-5; Isa. 53:7). Pilate knew Jesus had been delivered out of “envy” (Matt. 27:18), so he appealed to the people and their customary “prisoner release” during the Passover. He allowed the Jews to choose between Jesus or Barabbas (Jn. 18:39-40). Sadly, the people chose Barabbas instead of Christ (Matt. 27:15-21).

Sometimes communications go wonky.  But you knew that.

I’m an old man now at 85.  Having read not a few accident reports in the Air Force some sixty-odd years ago, poor communications can cause serious accidents, and no doubt still do.
