With blustery winds and snow flurries sweeping the Commonwealth, it’s clear that the holiday season is upon us.  Meanwhile, the members of the General Assembly continue to be hard at work holding interim joint committee meetings in Frankfort and throughout the state as we approach the start of the 2019 Regular Session in January.

Now that election season is over, we can return our attention to the important things in life: family, friends, and our communities.  As we prepare to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with our loved ones, please remember those who are not as fortunate as ourselves.  I encourage you to donate your time and resources to local food banks and shelters as we enter the holiday season.  This is the time of year when communities should come together to help one another, especially those who are most in need.

Let us also remember our men and women in uniform, many of whom will be without their families as they serve our country.  Keep these families in your prayers, and offer them support if the opportunity arises.  Fisher House Foundation and the USO are among several great organizations that serve military families.

 As you begin your holiday shopping, please consider supporting your small local businesses, especially on November 24, Small Business Saturday.  You can purchase great gifts while contributing to the backbone of your local economy at the same time. 

 Lastly, I want to thank you for your legislative questions and concerns.  I always appreciate the feedback and look forward to continuing to serve our district.  I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with delicious food, lasting memories, and of course, football.
