Jarrod Jacobs: “What Is The church Of Christ?”

Last week, we began a study about the church of Christ and learned that the church was founded by Christ and is made up of Christians (Matt. 16:18; Acts 2:47, 11:26). It is not a building, but saved people (I Cor. 12:12-14).

Senator C. B. Embry's Legislative Update

The pace of activity in the Capitol is picking up as we rapidly approach the end of the 153rd Regular Session. With only a few days left to pass bills, the Kentucky General Assembly has been working in overdrive to develop the best legislative policy for the Commonwealth.

How do our five senses trigger our emotions and our actions?

Scientist tell us the brain has its own location, and the mind likewise has its own place:  One is physical (brain); the other emotional (mind).  But the brain and mind work in concert with each other.  The Bible tells us, “We are fearfully and wonderfully made.”

I watch a lot of those behind the music type shows: AXSTV’s Top 10 Revealed, lots of music documentaries and the like.  This first little nugget I learned from the Elvis show that was on CBS a few weeks ago.  As always, I double-checked this and all the knowledge I’m about to drop to make sure it was all true.  Here we go.

Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

I’m another year older and thankful for that additional year. In celebration of my increased age, I read about seniors in the United States. One of my friends will often say, “Don’t talk to me about the golden years. They’re rusty!” But aging is just another step and another description.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the senior population is not a small group. Recently, the U.S. population by age group was:

•Age under 65273,900,000about 84.7%

•Age 65 and older49,220,000about 15.2%

•Age 65 to 7428,680,000about 8.8%

Last week, my sister’s husband passed away.  He had been under Hospice care during the week before.  My sister’s son said that afterwards, after they removed his body from his parents’ home, Rhonda fell to the kitchen floor and wailed.

Senator C.B Embry's Legislative Update

As we approach the latter days of the 2019 Session, the Capitol remains as busy as ever. Countless visitors from across Kentucky advocated on important issues in a week that had no shortage legislative activity.

Jarrod Jacobs: “What Is The church Of Christ?”

When I talk to folks and tell them about the Caneyville church of Christ, some who are unfamiliar with us wonder about the church of Christ and the principles for which it stands. Those who are not familiar with the church revealed in Scripture (Rom. 16:16) generally have many questions. This is good, and I am always glad to answer Bible questions (I Pet. 3:15) and to study God’s word with others (II Tim. 2:2, 15).

PHIL'S PHILOSOPHY By; D.P Kinkade Contributions By; Taylor & Drake Kinkade

ENOUGH TO BE DANGEROUS- A while back, I had a gentleman tell me that his knowledge about what went on at a place where he is more or less “in charge” was only sufficient to the level of “knowing just enough to be dangerous.” Now the remark was made in jest and I suspect that he knows a little bit more than that observation would imply but it does infer that he does not have a “tight grip” or total control over all the details associated with managing the place we were discussing.

Recently I saw a TV movie “Advertized”.  The caption read: Prometheus.

I’ve never been a space movie fan.  I only read the description: “About the crew of a spaceship traveling to a distant planet in hopes of discovering humanity’s origins.”

Heck, they could have stayed home, here on Earth and discovered all that from the first Book of the Bible — Genesis, chapter one.
