Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

Athlete Jon Jones said, “Just staying healthy, that is true wealth and true happiness” (https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/healthy). I absolutely agree with Jones. I’ve done some reading about three ways to improve one’s health: decrease anxiety, walk for exercise, and live in a green environment.

Senator C.B Embry's Legislative Update

It was an honor to serve you and our district at the Capitol during the 2019 Regular Session. I, along with my colleagues in the Senate and the House, were proud to stand with Kentuckians as we passed historic legislation throughout our thirty days in Frankfort.

The Kentucky General Assembly passed almost 200 bills, making the 153rd Regular Session one of the busiest to date. Education, safety, pro-life measures, Second Amendment rights, business, and good government were among the high profile issues addressed.

“If countries like Russia or China ever decided to take us over, they wouldn’t have to drop one bomb,” Garey said to me.  We were on our way home from the Nashville airport after having spent a week at the Grand Canyon with our daughter, Nikki, and our son-in-law, Thomas.  I was mulling over pictures of Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and the Colorado River, so I wondered where he was going with the no-bombs-necessary statement.

“Oh, really,” I said.

Jarrod Jacobs: The Bible Touches Our Lives

I am amazed at how “up-to-date” the Bible is. Though it was completed some 2000 years ago, it is still as relevant as ever! Please consider a few Bible examples that touch our lives today.

Rep. Steve Sheldon: Veterans a Major Focus during 2019 Session

I am still taking time to reflect on many of the measures passed during the 2019 Legislative Session. I also reflect on that last day. As the hours stretched into the evening, I got a unique perspective on an event that was being prepared for the next day. March 28, 2019 was the last day of Session, but March 29 would see Vietnam Veterans and their families visit the Capitol in honor and remembrance of Vietnam Veterans Day.

Don Locke: Lookin Thru Bifocals

Someone once said, “The secret to good writing is the rewrite.”

I wouldn’t know Meister Eckhart if I met him in the big road; but he did say a true thing: “Only the hand that erases can write the true true thing.”

Was mine true?  Maybe I should go back and express the true thing if I find I was wrong.”  The national press needs to heed this.  Sometimes we need to hear or see the word “correction” at the end of a script.

Under The Covers

Written by Sandy Linzer and Denny Rendell, “Working My Way Back To You” was originally recorded by the Four Seasons in 1966, reaching #9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.  In the UK Top 50 chart it spent three weeks-all at #50.  It is the only hit to feature the groups arranger Charles Calello in the temporary role of basist/vocalist, having replaced original member Nick Massi.  The Spinners covered the classic in 1979.  Their version reached #1 on the UK charts and #2 on the U.S. Hot 100.

Good Friday and Easter are almost here. These days are very important to the Christian faith. Also interesting are the many things we tend to associate with Easter.

Facts about Easter are entertaining (https://albertonrecord.co.za/172714/easter-trivia-facts-need-know/; https://www.uselessdaily.com/news/50-amazing-facts-about-easter-list/#.X...), including the following bits of information:

Cheryl Hughes: Who the Heck is Cooter Brown

As you might remember, my husband Garey is from Alabama.  Being from the deep south means, if you are in his presence for any length of time, you will be subjected to bits of southern wisdom that make a lot of sense and southern expressions that make little or no sense at all.
