Patty Craig; A Slice Of Time

During the past six months, we’ve all stayed home more than normal. I heard a discussion on television last week about how spending more time at home has resulted in many remodeling/updating projects. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in four areas located inside and outside my house: the dining room, the living room, the sunporch, and the deck or patio. These areas all allow me to sit and do something. They’re my favorite areas of my home.

Jarrod Jacobs: One Event

In Ecclesiastes two, Solomon names all of the things he had done as he searched for meaning to his life. He named the things he had built, the things he had done, etc., and concluded that all of this is a waste because “one event” happens to everyone, whether fool or wise (Ecc. 2:14). He would talk about this again in Ecclesiastes 9:2-3.

EDITORIAL: Compliance, not agreement

One week ago today, Butler County Schools’ Superintendent Robert Tuck went on WLBQ’s Out on a Limb to discuss all things school-related, especially as they pertain to the myriad of regulations (guidance, requirements, mandates, recommendations - who knows?!?) governing schools and athletics.

My favorite music streaming service is Spotify.  I’ve been a subscriber twice: once for almost a decade, then I switched to Apple Music for several years before returning to Spotify. I listen to it constantly when I run.  Did you know Spotify has their operational headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden?

This past week, I’ve been thinking about fall again. I believe each season brings its pleasures and its readiness activities. Writer Hal Borland said, “Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night” (https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/autumn-quotes).

One day at work, a grandmother pulled her car into our shop, with her little curly-haired granddaughter riding in the back seat.  We talked about the joys of being a grandmother.  She said her sister had come for a visit the week before, and when she went to the door to leave, h

Jarrod Jacobs: Truth

Truth is a precious commodity today. Many people lie to us. Some lie for self-preservation, others lie to get our money. Still, others lie because they know no other way! They are like the people in II Peter 2:14 who had “exercised” their hearts in this way. A multitude of excuses can be offered for why men are dishonest, but the fact remains that such actions are not of God, but are motivated by Satan (Jn. 8:44). God tells us not to lie, but to speak the truth (Col. 3:9; Eph. 4:25). His word is truth (Jn. 17:17), and Christ is the embodiment of truth (Jn. 14:6).
