Every day in the United States, approximately 1600 youth smoke their first cigarette, while nearly 200 youth start smoking every day.  Talk to your children about the dangers of smoking.  Preventing tobacco product use among youth is critical to ending the tobacco epidemic in the U.S.

Butler County farmers, whose farming operation has been damaged by market disruptions from Corona Virus, can apply for CFAP 2 program funds through the USDA FSA Office here in Morgantown.  Earlier this year, the CFAP program provided much needed financial assistance to many of the farms in our county.  The signup period for CFAP 2 is from now until December 11, 2020.  Most of the farm commodities produced on Butler County farms are eligible to participate.  Beef Cattle producers are eligible to participate in this program

Do you know the average age a person begins smoking cigarettes?  According to the CDC, nearly 9 out of 10 adults who smoke cigarettes on a daily basis try their first ever cigarette by age 18.  Tobacco product use is started and most often established during adolescence. 

Alternative storage structures have become more common across the state in recent years, as producers hold larger amounts of grain in anticipation of better marketing opportunities. Equipment storage buildings, grain bags and covered outdoor piles are some of the more common alternative storage structures we see producers using.

We may think more about trees in autumn as we watch their colorful displays, but trees provide so many more benefits to us than just fall color. Converting carbon dioxide to oxygen, helping lower our energy costs, serving as a wildlife habitat and playing a crucial role in Kentucky’s economy are just some of the many benefits of our state’s trees.

Sunday, Pastor Ruth and Neal Morgan were excited to greet everyone at the Open House, and both were giving tours of all the work that has been accomplished.
