Frank Hobbs Paintings Displayed at Butler County Arts Guild

Following in the footsteps of many accomplished artists in his family, including aunts uncles and his mother, Frank Hobbs, a few years retired, has time to pursue painting.

In 2018, Frank retired after 47 years as a Captain in the Merchant Marines.

He became involved with the Butler County Arts Guild two years ago when he started giving free guitar lessons. His classes gave several recitals and were in the middle of lessons when COVID 19 locked everything down in March.

Frank is part of a local team of artists that started the mural at the Butler County Extension Office in January of 2019. Hopefully, they can resume painting on the first hundred-foot wall in November.

Frank has also been busy helping out Boy Scout Troop 208. He has been a merit badge counselor for Woodcarving, Farm Mechanics, Painting, and Citizenship in the Nation over the past twelve months. He now has time to travel, and when visiting the local churches, he sings and plays his guitar.

His favorite subjects to paint are animals and birds but he also takes orders for portraits of pets, farms, cars, trucks, and other themes.

Frank will be at the Arts Guild the next four Saturdays from Noon to 4 PM.

Butler County Arts Guild is on Facebook: @ButlerCountyArtsGuild, and their address is 115 West Ohio Street.
