BCMS Jr. Beta Needs Your Help: A Bench for Caps

UPDATE: Beech Tree News/WLBQ 1570 has teamed with BCMS in this project and will donate the $200 to the Jr. Beta Club to purchase the recycled bench.

"We are excited about the project and know the students and staff will collect the 400 pounds of tops they need. We are proud to help in their effort,s" said John Embry, co-owner of Beech Tree News.

Butler County Middle School is partnering with Green Tree Plastics in Evansville, Indiana.  The Junior Beta Club is sponsoring this partnership called “A Bench for Caps.”  We are collecting any plastic caps that are clean and free of metal. Besides bottle caps, this includes

·        snap-on cottage cheese, coffee can, and yogurt lids

·        twist-on medicine, drink, and milk bottles tops/caps, including the ring

·        flip-top ketchup and condiment bottles

·        large twist (such as detergent)

·        spout (such as squirt mustard)

After we collect 400 pounds of plastic tops, the Beta Club will then donate $200. With the tops and the money, our school will receive a six-foot bench made out of the recycled plastic.

The Junior Beta Club is also collecting can tabs.  The tabs will be recycled, and the money will be given to the Ronald McDonald House.  We welcome all students, parents, and community members to help us collect these items.  If you have any questions, please contact Paige McKinney, Junior Beta Sponsor, at [email protected].
