Butler County Chapter DAR Celebrates Women in History 2013

The Butler County Chapter DAR “Woman in History” for 2013 was Lois Martin Russ.
Every March Butler County Chapter celebrates "Women in History". We did so on Thursday March 28 at our regular meeting. The program was presented by History chairman Georgia Laverne Romans. Georgia walked us through Lois’ life with a power point presentation sprinkled with inspiring messages.
Lois’ tireless dedication to all DAR work and keeping track of the Veterans of Butler County from the Revolutionary War through today gives her a well deserved place among BCDAR "Women in History”. Lois was a member of the Butler County Historical Society and was instrumental along with her Mother Ermie Lee Martin, in publishing the first Butler County History Book in 1978. Lois is also an active member of the Granville Allen post 5837 Ladies Auxiliary. This but scratches the surface of the many accomplishments of this unassuming, remarkable woman.
Lois takes her place alongside former Butler County Chapter members awarded the title in 2011, Alma Jean Render-Hocker and 2012, Joyce Porter Hammers.
Lois' son Barry Russ attended with his wife Deanna and her granddaughter daughter Leeza.
Hostesses for the evening were Jennifer Odle and Lois Russ. Refreshments followed the presentation after which the BCDAR was called to order by Lynda Knight, Regent for monthly meeting.

Butler County Chapter DAR will next celebrate the Silver Tea where we honor the accomplishments of Butler County students. The Silver Tea takes place at the Butler County Education Complex in the Community Room at 7:00 on April 25
