The BCHS Project Prom committee would like to thank the following for their part in making the 2013 BCHS Project Prom a success. We are pleased to announce, that because of all of these generous people/places, our students received over $10,000 in cash, 2 televisions, 3 laptops, 2 ipads, over 30 gift cards, and much more. Our students are very lucky to live in such a giving community that comes together to support them in all that they do!

BCHS Band Show and Auction

On Monday May 6, beginning at 6PM the Butler County High School Band held a concert and senior exhibition. This event also contained an auction that was intended to raise money for the band to use for expenses and instruments for next years mass of incoming band students. The auction was conducted by professional auctioneer Bruce White and contained floral table sets, a case of Mountain Dew with a gift card and a hand-made quilt, which sold for $550.

BCHS Class of 1993 Reunion

The Butler County High School Class of 1993 will be celebrating their 20 year reunion on Saturday June 1, 2013 at the Ramada Inn in Bowling Green, KY.  Everyone who was ever a part of the class of 1993 is invited to enjoy a meal and catch up with old friends from 6pm to 8pm.  The cost is $18 per person and needs to be received by May 16, 2013.  Mail to Charity Parrish, 4031 Will Bohannon Road, Smiths Grove, KY 42171.

Tuesday is Teacher Appreciation Day!

May 6-May 10 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers probably spend more time each day with students than their families do. In this day of educational accountability teachers are asked to be and do more. That's why communication and support for our teachers is vital.

Prom Fashion Show Comes to MCRC

Gail Childress and Judge David Fields

Five residents of Morgantown Care and Rehab participated as models for a prom fashion show Wednesday afternoon at the facility. They were Gail Childress, Edna Ashley, Faye Cardwell, Reajean Grubb and Linda Gray. Shirley Allen served as emcee and Judge David Fields was the lone chaperone for the event.

Fields Recognized for Sportsmanship

On Sunday, Butler County High School Senior Sierra Fields attended the 2013 Forcht Bank/KHSAA Sportsmanship Recognition Program.  This program was held to honor the regional winners of the competition.  The Forcht Bank/KHSAA Sportsmanship Recognition Program started 17 years ago with the goal of recognizing those who display good sportsmanship and are involved in leadership roles within his or her community.

Butler County Chapter DAR Honors Achievement

BCMS Good Citizens with BCDAR Chairman Kyllie Doughty, Ernest Lee 7th grade, Sarah Belcher 6th grade and not pictured Zoie Pendley 8th grade.

The Butler County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently announced its annual Good Citizenship award winners from local schools.

Givens, Gabbard to Marry

Bobby and Paula Givens of Quality would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Misty Lynn Givens to Andrew Jackson Gabbard, son of Clark and Debbie Hammers, Lesa Gabbard, and the late Mack Gabbard of Morgantown.
Marriage vows will be exchanged of Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at the former Third District School in Huntsville, KY. All friends and relatives are invited.  A reception will follow the ceremony at the school.

BCHS Project Prom

Early Sunday morning, following Prom, Butler County High School held their BCHS Project Prom.  Project Prom is an event held every year after Prom, in which students come and play games to win money.  The event was created to keep the students safe and off the street on Prom night.  This year’s Project Prom theme was “Project Carnival”.  With over $10,000 donated by local businesses and 81 gifts given away, this year’s Project Prom had quite the turn out.
