Elijah Flener Recognized for Football Accomplishments

On February 15th 2013, Elijah Flener was recognized for his accomplishments during the 2012 football season and his career at Butler County High School.
During the 2012 football season, Elijah set several individual and career records. Elijah set the record for Single Season Passing Yards with 2,903 yards and holds the career passing record with 6,534 yards. During this time, Elijah passed the career touchdown record with 48 touchdowns thrown.

Fields receives Scholastic Achievement Award

Sierra Fields, a senior at BCHS was recently awarded the Girls Scholastic Achievement Award.

Sierra Fields, a senior at BCHS was recently awarded the Girls Scholastic Achievement Award during the Kentucky Tennis Association's (KTA) annual banquet.  The banquet gives out state award winners and also serves as the KTA's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.  Awards handed out include "Junior Player of the Year", "Adult Player of the Year", "Facility of the Year", "Coach of the Year", among others.  Sierra and other award winners will also receive recognition in the KTA's annual yearbook. 

Aggressive Iron Brings Home the Hardware

Aggressive Iron members traveled to Manchester, Tennessee for the Tennessee Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships on February 2nd.  They went in search of hardware and had great success.  Personal goals were met and another successful meet is in the books.  Tammy Green and Dustin Embry won first place in their respective divisions.  Brad Baize won third place and achieved a personal goal of 1300 pounds raw.  Travis McIntosh placed first in his division as well as totaling 1395 pounds raw, putting him at sixth place in the nation for the bench division at 181 pounds body weight in the S

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: Get someone started fishing at FINs lakes

Marc Johnson, aquatic education coordinator for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, instructs a child on proper fishing techniques at a school field trip to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife headquarters Upper Sportsman’s Lake last May. The FINs lakes, such as Upper Sportsman’s Lake, offer a great avenue to teach someone basic fishing techniques in a lake where anglers have an excellent chance to catch some fish.

Oak Ridge Basketball Action

The Oak Ridge Lady Warriors Middle School team finished up their season this past Friday with a 25-18 win over Glasgow Christian Academy.  Hannah Burden led the team to victory with 15 points;  Bailee Bratcher had 6, Jasmine Alford 2, and Gabby Harris 2.

Keith Butler's Number Retired

Former Butler County High School baseball standout Keith Butler had his number retired prior to homecoming activities on Tuesday night at the Butler County High School Gymnasium.Keith is a 2007 graduate of Butler County High School, where he had a stellar baseball career, and finished with a 48-9 record on the mound. Keith helped lead the 2007 Bears to a 34-5 record and #17 state ranking (the highest in school history.) He finished the 07 season with a 14-1 record, 158 strikeouts, 3 no hitters, and a .630 batting average, all of which lead to the state that year.

BCMS Bears Cut the Nets at Grayson County- GRVC Champions

Butler County sported a large fan section on Monday night at Grayson County Middle School to cheer on their very own BCMS Bears in the Championship game of the GRVC Tournament.  Excitement loomed in the crowd as the ball was tipped off in anticipation of some great basketball action.  The Bears had faced off two times earlier in the season against Monday night’s foe, the Muhlenberg North Stars.  The Bears had come out both times previously as the victor, but both contests were close; and everyone has heard the old adage that it is hard to beat the same team three times in one season.  With

The 2012 Butler County High School football team held its annual awards banqut on January 13 at the BCHS Commons Area.  Head Coach Ryan Emmick recognized several players for their accomplishments during the 2012 season.

Keith Butler's Number Will Be Retired

A former Butler County High School baseball standout will be honored on February 5th before the Bears basketball game with Hart County. Keith Butler, a relief pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, will have his number retired at that game. Butler is currently playing winter baseball in the Dominican Republic and is preparing for spring training with the Cardinals beginning next month. In November the Cardinals promoted Butler to their 45-man roster.
