2015 BC Bears Baseball Preview

The Butler County Bears baseball team is coming off of a disappointing 12-23 campaign in 2014.  The 2015 season starts with another coaching change for the Bears, their 5th head coach in 6 years, as the 2014 Bears freshman team coach Ben Grey assumes the reigns at the varsity level.  Coach Grey, a standout high school player from Edmonson County and a former collegiate player at Campbellsville University, brings a lot of excitement to the post, along with baseball knowledge and a strong desire to enhance the character of the young men on the team.  Assistant Coaches for the Bears are Adam S

Butler County Bassmasters Kickoff Tournament

 Ryan Coleman and John McEwen were the winners.

Butler County Bassmasters held the CRT Sports and Monogram Kick off OPEN tournament at the Peabody WMA Saturday, March the 21st. Ryan Coleman and John McEwen were the winners with 5 fish weighing in at 13.80 lbs. including the big fish of the tournament, a 6.10 lb. largemouth.

Jim and Sam finished 2nd with 10.49 lbs.

PREVIEW: Butler County Softball kicks off 2015 season

With three key players lost to graduation and others absent from last year's roster, the Butler County Bears' softball team is definitely in a rebuilding mode for the 2015 season. 
Lost to graduation from 2014 are Lynsie Clark, Amy Rogers and Natoshia White - all three key players who made significant contributions to the BCHS Softball program since their middle school years.

Lady Warriors named JV State Runners-Up; Warriors fall short in the first round

Hannah Burden and Delaney Cooper were named JV Girls All-Tournament.

Thursday night the Lady Warriors came out ready to battle as they faced Immaculata.  Immaculata turned up the heat on the Lady Warriors early in the game but they could not handle the pressure of the determined Oak Ridge team and were put under by the Lady Warriors.  The Lady Warriors pulled out of the first round with a final score of 43 -10.

BCHS Football Banquet 2014

Team Captain Awards- Seniors, Jake Martin, Drake Embry, Peyton Bratcher,  and Mason Barks.

The BCHS Football banquet was held Monday, March 9th.   Head Coach Ryan Emmick was the master of ceremonies, welcoming parents, family, and friends, in a look back at the 2014 season and to recognize the young men.   Coach Emmick was very appreciative in the never ending behind the scenes job done by parents and the Butler Co. Quarterback Club.
         The BCHS varsity football squad finished the season with an overall record of (7-4); and also went (4-1) in District games securing the runner up position and the #2  seed in the KHSAA State Playoffs.

Oak Ridge Warriors and Lady Warriors are State Bound

The Oak Ridge Warriors and Lady Warriors are headed to the KCAA JV State Tournament on March 12-15.  The Lady Warriors will make their first appearance at JV State since 2010. They are coming into the tournament as a #2 seed facing Immaculate Christian from Louisville, KY.  The JV Girls ended the regular season 14-5.  In December, the JV girls brought home third place in the Bethel JV Invitational Tournament.  They were Champions of the First Region regular season and are looking to make an impact at the JV State Tournament this weekend.

Little League Information

The league will host the Rookie Evaluations on Tuesday March 10 at 6:30 pm at the Field House. This will be the last opportunity to sign-up for little league! If you have a child between the ages of 5 and 13 who want to play baseball - be sure to contact us OR be at the field house on Tuesday night to sign up! While this is set for rookie evaluations - if an older child who missed the evaluations last Tuesday - please bring them so they can participate. Teams will be made following the evaluations.

Wildlife Food Plot Seminar on March 9th

There will be a wildlife food plot seminar at the Butler County Extension Office on Monday, March 9th at 6:00 p.m.  Those interested in food plots for wildlife will be able to learn about different food plot strategies, different crop or plant species that are suited for Butler County, when and how to plant, and the importance of soil testing and how to get an accurate soil test.
