Keith Butler Heads to Memphis Redbirds

One Butler Countian’s dreams of starting this season in professional baseball’s major leagues have been put on hold, for now. Butler County High School Alumnus Keith Butler, a six-foot, 170-pound right-handed relief pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinal’s organization won’t begin the 2013 season in the big leagues, but he’s just a step away at the Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate, the Memphis Redbirds.

Butler County Baseball: Bears win 3 of 4 games in week 2

The Bears had a very busy week, playing 4 games in week 2 of the baseball season.  Despite cool weather, the Bears were hot, winning 3 of the 4 games they played.  The victories came over Whitesville Trinity, Todd County, and Breckinridge County.  Their only loss was to Russellville.

UK and WKU Participate in Project Prom Dodge Ball Fundraiser

The University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University dodge ball teams met at Butler County High School Thursday Night to raise money for BCHS Project Prom.  With both teams ranking top 10 in the nation on their respected polls, the matchup made for a great night of dodge ball. UK brought an undefeated team into gym while WKU brought a team with many experienced players such as Butler County High School Alumni Nick Johnson.  Fans packed the top rows of the bleachers (in order to avoid getting hit by one of the 80mph rubber balls) to watch some intense dodge ball.

BCHS Track Team Grows; Scott Breaks School Record

Shaedy Scott

Shaedy Scott, a junior at BCHS, unofficially broke Butler County’s girl’s 100 meter dash record.  The record was previously held by Elizabeth Hilliker with a time of 14.18 seconds.  Scott broke the record last week with a time of 14.11 seconds.

BCHS Tennis Continues Winning Ways

Varsity Boys Sweep Cloverport- Team Record now at 3-1

The Butler County High School Tennis Teams hosted 3rd Region foe Cloverport on Friday March 22nd.  The boys match was a varsity match, whereas the girls match saw Butler County's junior varsity girls defeat the Cloverport varsity girls, in a match that counted as "JV" match.

BC Softball goes 3-1, runner-up in tournament at Johnson Central

Butler County Bears' Softball brought home the runner-up trophy at the Mayfield Ice Creamier Battle by the Creek at Paintsville, KY.

The Butler County High School softball team had a productive trip east over the weekend, going 3-1 and finishing runner-up at the Mayfield Ice Creamier Battle by the Creek Tournament, hosted by Johnson Central High School in Paintsville. 

On Friday, Butler County romped George Rogers Clark 16-1 in five innings. An explosive offensive performance was capped by a two-run homerun blast by Natoshia White.  Pitcher Morgan Manning, who was named the Game MVP, turned in a stellar performance in the circle.

Bears Blast Daviess 11-1; Fall to Muhlenberg

Madeline Drake finishes the double play.

Daviess County didn't put up much of a fight on Wednesday as the Bears cruised to a blowout 11-1 win in five innings at Butler County.

The Bears scored four runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Madeline Drake, an RBI single by Amy Rogers, an RBI single by Natoshia White, and an RBI double by Lynsie Clark.

Drake racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Bears.

The Butler County High School Boys Tennis Team advanced their record to 2-1 on the season, defeating Russellville on the road, March 19th.

BCHS Baseball Goes 1-3 On the Week

After an easy victory over Todd County last Thursday, the BCHS baseball squad ran into trouble at the South Warren Lead Off Classic over the weekend.  The Bears faced off against South Warren, Allen County, and Owensboro in the tournament.  The Bears dropped all three-tournament games Friday and Saturday against good competition.

Game Plan Outdoor Expo

The 2013 Game Plan Foundation Spring Outdoor Expo will be held on April 19, 2013 at Hillvue Heights Church located at 3219 Nashville Road in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Gates Open at 5pm, keynote speaker: Jimmy Houston, Dinner included $50.  Tickets are available at Beech Tree News.
